Facebook as a way of advertising.

Hey all,

What are your thoughts on Facebook for advertising? As-well as it's powers and
nasty streaks? I'm thinking it can serve as a great beacon for work, etc, yet it is somewhat fickle? So...as you do, tell and share your experiences with advertising on social networks!

All The Best!

Kind Regards,

I use it as google is £7.50 for my keyword and fb is 60p. It's far more cost effective and the clicks are turning into business. I deal with people at retirement so i just filter out everyone over 63 years old

It all depends on what you are using it for. I run an authority site where I provide tips/tricks/techniques as well as interviews etc... in the guitar niche and my results in getting new fans/readers has been excellent with FB ads (less than .10c a fan in some cases). But as for sending them direct to a landing page/CPA offer - i found it to be a major headache. It's social so I think it works best when your content/website is something that people want to share with their friends/family anyways (i.e. hobbies, cool stuff)

As long as you keep very tight perameters on your demographic it should be cost effective if you don't you will most likely get burned.

FB is good for advertising but you have to be very careful in selecting the demographics. I still prefer Adwords for most of my advertising.

Facebooks ads is currently quite competitive.. And the problem with facebook ads is that facebook user hates leaving facebook when clicking on an ad (at least I find that quite annoying).

People are expecting to go to a page within facebook (fanpage for instance) and if you direct them outside of facebook, be prepared to face high bounce rate.

That's my experience with Facebook ad a year ago. Not sure about today.. But I'm pretty sure it's still the same, somehow.

Yes I agree with Jeremiah. You will get a high bounce rate if you link your ad directly to your site.Much better is to have a fanpage, with a custom tab on it. this tab because of the new timeline 810px wide display, can have just about anything on it that a website would anyway. Also you can like gate the tab. Something like 95% of people will like you to get to the content. What ends up happening is that you get about 2x the views / actions as what you pay for in clicks because of the like gatings viral feature.

Social Networks are my favorite tools to drive traffic. It is free, really simple and effective if you know how to use it.

I personally think the power of the targeting options make FB very good, you need to be careful when setting up your campaigns and there are a lot of policies and rules to make sure you get your ad approved but with a bit of care, you can get some very good results

Social Media has its advantages -knowing how much people use Facebook everyday. The potential could be enormous. What you must do before venturing your ads to FB PPC is to take into consideration the ff:
    -Your Offer (product/Service)
    -Your Target Customers
    -Your Marketing Page (Squeeze/Sales Funnels)

HINT**: Don't engage in PPC if you have not carefully researched your ad campaign you will be losing much than you would gain.

    Cheers!

    Hey all!

Wow, some really mixed opinions...good stuff! Yeah, I agree with what you guys are saying...the bounce rate would be rather high! Also, yes, I think making a facebook "like" fanpage would be much more efficient. You can simply attach your main page to the fan-page...since it is much more targeted to a niche-crowd.

    Very wise words, guys!

    All the best!
