Don't buy FB likes. What's the best organic way to get likes?

The days of buying fake FB pages/likes are over. It's not in a company's best interest to do that (not sure that it ever was) since FB is seriously cracking down. So if I want to build a real network of fans/followers on my Facebook page, one of the best ways would to post content that gets shared a lot, right?

My question is, how far off your company's mandate are you comfortable straying from in order to post content that people really want to read and share? If you are an internet marketing company, do people just want to read about marketing trends and SEO tips all day? Maybe industry people do, but industry people aren't your clients. We want to get non-marketing people as our followers. So posting things of interest to that audience would involve going beyond the world of internet marketing and posting all kinds of stuff.
Just wondering what works here, any input?

Same thing goes for our blog. It's full of marketing and tech articles, which are great, but I'm wondering if/how it should branch out to expand our audience.

Thanks for any input.

Ok, but you can buy around 1,000 likes at the beginning and then you can start building slowly your own likes. It will be a good boost for your facebook page.

Just run some facebook ads. I have seen great success in getting more likes for several facebook pages - it cost on average 30-60 cents per like.

This is easiest and cheapest way to get genuine likes.

1000 FB followers before starting campaign is a good idea to get more organic likes. Also you can display widgets in your websites for authority.

Run a contest or sweepstakes, check out the apps my company sells, on average when an ad is coupled to a contest or sweepstakes (no matter what your giving away) you get double the likes (because the sweepstakes is fan gated). The vast majority of my customers end up paying 10-15 cents per like legitimate like, with some doing even better.

What you do is make the sweepstakes, and have it like gated (its built into the app) and then have you ad point to the sweepstakes tab.

This is one of the worst things you can do. A non promoted post will only go to about 15% of your fanbase. If you buy say 1000 likes and then acquire another 500 legitimate likes. There is a 66% chance that the 'free 15%' of the people that are seeing your posts will be the 1000 fake likes. People who would never be interested in your product anyway.

Buying likes is the absolute worst thing you can do, its not only a waste of money, its a detrimental waste of money.

Buying FB likes could possibly get your account closed , I would not wish to take that chance . It is , I agree , a terrible waste of money .

I see your point... some Facebook users check how many likes the page has before they add their likes... if your page has around 3000-5000 likes, you will have better chance of getting REAL likes.....

Content is a trick with social media. Content for SEO works great and it does play well for sites where you publish the content to social media but it is really important to think outside the box when trying to grow your fan page. Buying likes is only useful when you are trying to "look" larger than you are.. however most internet or social marketing people can figure it out pretty quick.

One of the ways we found that works is a combination between IM and applying some strategies to your social media marketing without spending any money on Ads initially.

You have to start with the company and how they are working with clients right now. Do you have email lists, do you have a database? Use that first. Then work with others in the industry, your "evangelical" customers and get them to "invite" friends to your page as an advertiser level admin if you want to get really creative.

Finally make sure to use Facebook applications. There are a ton of types of app's available in the market but you can find some gem's. We currently use Facebook contests to drive our client pages, collect email information, and reward those who refer others to the contest.

You work the entire process as a list building exercise.

Hope that helps/answers your questions. Let me know if I can assist.

Write good sponsored posts and add post articles in relavant sites and put the facebook url and tell people about the best features and convince them to like your fanepage. It is the best option as I do for my client and for my services also.

You can promote your facebook fanpage through your friends. First of all, get the like of your friends. While you will share anything in your page, it will appear in your friends wall. Their friend's will be able to see them. If they found it useful and interesting, they will like your page. Also, you can request some popular page owners to have a ad status in their wall about your page. They may will take a little payment from you but it will work better than facebook ads.

Buying Facebook fans are over & actually should never be the option in the 1st place as it doesnt get you anything in terms of $$ sales

Here is what you need to do
        • Know your audience
        • Know where they hangout
        • Partnership Program with other simlar Brand/Pages
        • Sponsored Stories on Facebook
        • Drive people In via Contest

I dont know where you got this from but this is 100% false. There is a 'chance' that what you share will go in your friends 'newsfeed' (about a 15% chance), but it will NEVER show on there wall.

One thing i tried that worked well is to write a compelling document, say 20 pages. Then split it into two - the "conclusion" is part2. Then GIVE part1 out, and then have a php coder write a page so that they only get access to part2 if they do a "facebook" like. This has the added bonus of not only getting the like, but also advertises part1 in their timeline to their friends.... who then download Part1 which is so compelling they want Part2... :-)

To let people become your fan, you need to give them value.
The best way to do it is to write informative articles on your
blog and put a 'Like' and 'share' buttons on your blog. After posting
a new article, share it with your existing fans and encourage them
to share your fan page with others. You can offer them something
free after they 'share' your fan page with others. There're a lot of
viral scripts there which can redirect your fan to any page after
they 'Like' or 'Share' your fan page.

Buying fans or likes is really a waste of time. You need to get them
in a genuine way as you can get benefit only from the genuine fans.
Currenly, I've around 15600 fans for my fan page which I created just
4 months ago. I am offering them quality contents and encouraging
them to share the page with others.

I tried Facebook ads in the beginning and got some good number of fans
but it was a bit costly. Thereafter I found this very useful method to get
Facebook likes and it helped a lot. It shows how to create a viral effect of
your fan page and get exposure for your FB page in the beginning.

    Thanks

Wow, thanks for all the great responses guys. I'm just going through all of them to process the suggestions.

At a quick glance I see that contests are pretty popular, so I will be looking into that. Another thing that jumps out at me as being kind of interesting is to ask our best clients to refer their friends to our page, encouraging "evangelical" behaviour in clients.

Buying FB likes was never an option, I don't believe that is a way to go at all.

I'm going to keep generating interesting content, but I'm still looking for tips and tricks to actually get people seeing that content (with new Facebook policies it's more difficult) and then share it. I think promoted posts are an interesting avenue.

Not sure about FB ads yet -they seem to be more geared towards events and stuff like that. What do you think?

With the most recent change to the edgerank system we have seen a decrease in the engagement and visibility of most clients pages. As annoying as it is, Facebook has enhanced the "sponsored posts" ads capability. Recently putting more of an emphasis on mobile ads as well makes this a very easy way to stay on top, reach mobile users and grow your page for a low cost.

        Hope that helps!

I've had success with running ads and with building relationships and inviting people. The most interactive fans are those who I connect with as a friend and then invite. A lot of people fail at this approach because they're too busy trying to be interesting and not showing any interest in their fans, that's how you get engagement.

Ofcourse you will not go to the same direction all the time .
As internet marketing company , not necessary only talk about SEO .
You can share more like social media marketing, digital advertise marketing, SEM , some tech news, some internet news, some hosting and domain news

Because some of them might know the knowledge that why you need update them what the latest or remind them what they miss up to focus which you can help them .

Most organic way to get fans is from youtube, blog and your website because they read and view your sharing only become your fans.

  • Well, I'm pretty much agreed on your point "The days of buying fake FB pages/likes are over." Fake likes will not help anymore instead it will risk your FB page receives ban hammer from Facebook. Also I want to mention pay likes is good but would cost you a fortune, that's why I would recommend using a wp plugin called http://likejackninja.com to gain real likes and save up the costs.
