Google Plus Followers/Circles?

Hi Guys!

Been juggling around with Google Plus since I have heard some great things about it. I have made a user and spent some time making it nice and neat. Now how the heck do I get some followers to this account? I have been trying the old school method of slowly following people in my niche in the hope that they would return the favor, but so far I have had no luck... So my question for the day.

How do you go about getting followers or circles to your G plus account? Are there anything else I could do to promote my account?

    Are you active on other social networks and if so do you have a following there? If you do tell people in those networks that you are on G+. Attach your Google plus profile to your blog or website or other web properties. Share great content on your plus profile and make sure its public. If you create blog posts share those on your plus profile. These posts (if public) will show up in search results. The whole idea behind all of this is that you are projecting authority on a topic and that people will want to hear more from you so they follow you on these networks. If you write for your blog, consider signing up for the Google authorship program. This will increase your visibility in search.
