Monetize images on blogs

I've been creating various niche blogs for some time now and have been an outside "watcher" of the community. I've finally decided to put some thoughts together to create my first thread. Wish me luck!

I wanted to talk about image monetization... and images in general

As you may be well aware, users are engaging with images twice as much as they do with text. I noticed this during the "Pinterest rush." Shortly after the Twitter feed changed, Facebook put more emphasis on images and Tumblr has been hitting it off through the roof with the younger demographic since launch. What I find interesting about all of these is that the trend is consistent with our motivation (as humans) for a quick fix. We get annoyed when we need to read through things, and our natural attempt is to look for quicker and more effective ways of getting information. As a "brand" (since I too market my content), I noticed that I would get praised (by my users) for sharing images. These are three take-aways that I have from using visual content so far:

1) Combining text and images creates a really interesting thing. We're able to convey information more precisely and still get users to engage with it.

2) Bright photos work much better than darker or unclear images. This may seem obvious, but you'd be surprised at the number of times I wanted to just grab Photoshop for a moment to edit an image because someone else just couldn't click 2 buttons to make their content more effective.

3) People in images make things 100x more personal. They get engaged with more often and they feel more personal. It's our natural tendency to engage with someone and not just a photo.

To create a visual piece of content to market I use a list to outline 4 main concepts I want to convey (i.e. in this post I'm conveying that images are engaging, images allow for better explanations, images are becoming more popular, images are ). I could picture a person holding an image and pointing to it, with a lightbulb over the person who is viewing it. I'm trying to say that images just make sense.

With all of this said, images are becoming the more engaging solution and I've been looking hard for a way to better market my images and also make some $$ (as I always do).

In doing that, I came across Reachli.com and wanted to convey that I found it to be an interesting concept. I'm not selling you on the platform, or vouching for it, I just want to bring it to all of your attention.

I hope this post helps some of you. I look forward to posting a lot more stuff. Thanks for reading!

Interesting concept indeed. The main reason why images are a hit because they invoke a certain interest and stimulation to people on the web as opposed to purely text content.

A photo that shows a customer using your product is much more convincing than a written testimonial. By that same measure, a video demo done by a customer is 100 times more convincing than even a photo.
