Following people on Twitter to get them following you back -- seriously does it work?

Hello guys,

I'm really curious about all the thing people said about this "twitter traffic tips" :
- find an expert on your niche, i.e. if you're on spiritual niche go check Deepak Chopra.
- then follow his followers, since they're already targeted, then
- expect them to follow you back
- promote them your stuff (in this case, website)

seriously is that work and how is the success rate? How many % will actually respond and follow you back? because it seems dubious to follow mass of people only to unfollow them back later. have tried this in the past but doesn't seem to work (only get a small following) -- but maybe the factor is just me that time, not the method.

Out of all of the Social Media sites, I have had the toughest time with Twitter. I know my original mistake was not tweeting enough but now that I tweet frequently I have gained more followers.

However I think it depends on your niche. My niche is Hot Rods and Choppers which doesn't seem to be a big niche on twitter so I only have a few "major" followers none of them super big.

I say the biggest key to twitter is follow the bigger people in your niche and just keep tweeting.
Just make sure your tweets are interesting and not just links (I made that mistake before).

Yes it works ... depending on the number you follow a day (1000/day twitter limit) you can get anywhere from 10-40% followback depending on your content

FYI, im getting about 20% reciprocation, so this is in line with my experience. I dont follow anywhere near a thousand per day. I did once or twice, (about 70 followings per hour seems the upper limit) and i got several warnings for aggressive following. I limit to about 200 per day, but not even every day. Across a 24 hour period that's 8 per hour... you can soon hit that "aggressive" level.

Im active in several niches on twitter. One of the accounts just would not gain followers. I was tweeting, inviting my lists (pertinent lists) writing daily articles and eventually it started to chug up at around 20 joiners per day. It didnt matter how many i followed (i even wrote my own twitter app for specific purposes!)

Other accounts have trickled up with hourly tweets. And my "social marketing" account rocketed to a thousand followers without doing anything....

My experience is : its the niche. The first account was to do with "freedom/rights/law" - a very discerning membership.

On the other end of the scale, social media: anyone seems to follow...

    Par for the course...

It worked for me. I got hundreds of followers in a matter of days. Of course, a lot of them don't bother following you back so you end up following way more people that follow you and it is difficult to bulk unfollow people. So far marketing via Twitter has not been working for me too well but I am going to keep at it and see what happens.

yes it works, people love being followed and to return the favor, they follow you back. some people set their accounts to automatically follow back those who follow them. but in order to keep them following you, you need to keep your tweets' quality, update them with useful info otherwise they'll just un-follow you when they find out you are just a marketing robot, but it IS the most basic and easy way to get followers on Twitter, the same goes to other networks such as Instagram.

    Yes it really does work.

Research the Twitter tool, Tweet Adder. It automates the process for you on a large scale.

You set it to automatically follow all of a Guru's followers over a set period of time. And also to unfollow the ones who didn't follow you back.

You can also set a following:followers ratio, so that you never follow more people than you are being followed by. (looks less spammy).

I've gained around 200 followers in a month. It would be far more, however I started off slowly due to it being a new twitter account.

Thank you for your replies guys . I think my mistake was not tweeting enough....Yes I was getting around 15% - 22% (highest) follow back, I never realized if it's within "average" range. I always thought it's awful and expecting too high (i.e. 50 - 60% follow back), which then frustrated me.

Yes, it works. If you do not follow the people, they will not follow you too.
