Question on using Sociable Plug in

First if this is the wrong place to post this just let me know. This is my first post. I have a fairly new website (6 months old), and have not done any social marketing yet. I just recently created a Facebook page. If I want to put the Sociable wordpress plug in on my site do I have to be registered with all the bookmarking sites that I list on my site? For example, if I list Linkedin, or Digg or whatever do I have to be registered with them first? Or do I need to register only if I intend to use them myself? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I actually have some more questions also I could not find answers to by searching. Thanks

The standard three you can join such as facebook, twitter and Google +. And also if you like to add linkedin or blogger that ok.

You can show in your WP 3 or 4 button. You must need to register and linked to your plugins.

    Thanks

If you want to promote your site via the social bookmarking sites, then you need to have an account on each of these sites, especially if you incorporated them into your website. You can also include the Facebook and Twitter icons. In this way, when visitors, who want to view your Facebook or Twitter page, click on the icon(s), then they will be redirected to your page right away.

Thanks johnrone. I wondered because I have read threads mentioning bookmarking your own content on numerous sites. I wondered how this was possible. Sign up for 50 sites? Or I may be misunderstanding the terms used.

It is really important that you put these buttons on your website. You must be registered on these sites and you can put the icons on your website which will help other people like your page, share your page, etc.

Hrm, if Sociable is the plugin I'm thinking of, you definitely don't need an account on every single one of those websites.

The one i'm thinking of has some ease featuring on it and has about 100 websites? Anyone can randomly submit your site or posts to some of those. However, you will have to sign up to the majority of the social networks on there or else it won't go to anywhere.

There are lots of social bookmarking and social network sites out there that you can use. If you want to promote your site using these sites, then you should register. Remember, signup on the big three (Facebook, Twitter and Google+) and build relationship so you can get free traffic.

Yes, these three big social networking sites is one of the most important things that you should include in your list.
and of course don't forget other sites that can help you boosts your site's rankings. Be creative and be unique with every stuff you share and make sure you share valuable contents to your readers because that what makes them come back to your page.

Sociable is one of my favorites. And manual bookmarking on the top social sites and bookmarking site. When done right you can get traffic from this only.

  • I think it's a smart idea to use the sites that you promote on your site. So if you're using this plugin and it allows people to Digg something, you should set up a Digg profile. People who use Digg will tend to look for you there. It will help you if spend a little time Digging some stuff on Digg related to what your blog is about. You'll get an extra link to your website in your Digg profile anyway.

I think this is a smart idea. If you don't use the social site, don't bother with those links. If you want to use a certain plugin take some time to set up social media accounts for those sites. Even if you only go on there and get a few friends, this builds your credibility with users on that site. It also helps people who use those sites discover you.

It may sound like a bunch of extra work, but it's really quick to set up & then you'll have them to use if you ever need to.
