FaceBook - a cry for help

Hi,

I've never used FB until a week ago.

I have a ClickBank product and have a blog that in promotes it. I thought it would be a great idea to market it using Social Media - it's a non-IM niche.

As I don't have a personal FB account I decided to open a business account only.

However, I'm having real doubts that this was the best decision.

For one thing, there is no search bar: Bugs & Known Issues | Facebook Help Center | Facebook

So, I've just found out that that I can't search for other like-minded accounts in my niche or groups.

What is the best way for me to go? What do other experienced IM'ers do when they are trying to market either their blog or ClickBnak product they've created? Do they open a personal account on FB and then create a business page off this account?

I really need some help here. I don't want to spend months running around in circles wondering if I'm doing it right.

Please help me out here guys.

Robert

I have found that facebook fan pages are best used in conjunction with a popular traffic site. If you have something people are interested in getting social media on then facebook will work otherwise it can be very, very, very difficult. Even I struggle to get my facebook page moving at times!

      Thanks Jaysmyne.

Can I ask if you just have a single Business FB page

      OR

Do you have a personal FB page and have then created a Business page that is linked to your personal FB page.

I am beginning to think that setting up my first-time-ever FB page as a Business page was a mistake and that I should delete it and start over, this time, creating a personal FB page and then a Business page.

The reason, being that I lack certain functionality with just a Business account - for example, there's no search box when I log in to my FB account.

      Thanks

Just create a single fan page, and embed it on your blog, it will get likes, and your business will be promoted in real time.

If you ask me personally, i use fb fan pages as a NEWSLETTER, its a better choice.

Facebook is, first and foremost, not intended for business. Not until today that Facebook has been used for business and marketing purposes. So, you might as well create an FB account and a fan page just for your business.

I would say that your best bet would be to look at the competition. Facebook has become a bastion of income for those who know how to use it properly, but every niche is different.

Creating that one viral post can make it all worth while. The trick is offering something of value to your fans. It can a be a joke, an issue worth commenting on, a promotion, etc...

I first of all suggest you to create a personal profile on fb and then create a facebook fan page.

Check out your competitors, what they are doing.

You can also create a simple application inside your facebook fanpage using static html iframe.

if you need any help, you can PM me!!

      Harrie,

      thanks for your advice.

I've decided to delete my business account and then create a personal FB account, which I will then setup a business fan page from. This seems like the best approach as I may want to use FB for several niches.

Now face book is giving an opportunity to create free webpage or also known as fan page, just build a page on the keyword that people like to search in your niche, update the page with unique contents to gain attention from public so that you will have more likes. If you can manage to get more likes then your page will rank top in search results of FB

I think, it would be better if you create your personal page on Facebook and once you're done with that then proceed into creating a facebook page for your business and just embed your FB page to your blog.
The purpose of having a personal account is to let people know you and by assuring them you are real. You can add your friends or any other colleagues.
Once you already have a personal account and a facebook page for your business, you can easily introduce your business. Just socialize with people and make sure you share valuable contents.

Have your own personal account then create a fan page for your business. You can't create a standalone business fanpage without a personal account to admin it.

You can also get a social plugin to your blog and have it link to your fanpage. That way, you can get more "likes".

And as what walkin said "If you can manage to get more likes then your page will rank top in search results of FB".

Robert - How urgent is your need for sales?. Getting a facebook page (or profile) going from a standing start is hard work and can take time. Do you have a budget to buy fans or like (via ads or artificial)?

I agree with Jasmyne - Best off using a fan page in conjunction with a high traffic site

To answer your last question - You can add multiple fan pages from a single personal account.

Oh and last tip - decide if your personal page is business or personal.

I added business colleagues and family aren't too impressed at me "talking shop" to them...

      footpod,

      thanks for your input.

I know I have my work cut out getting a new FB going. My blog is also new and get very little traffic.

I plan on running some FB ads - my niche is mainly for women - and directing them to my 'Free Gift' tabe on my site. It will be fangated so they have to like to get the free report.

I also plan on running a contest and the prize will be my main ebook - I'm not yet sure what I will ask visitor to provide for the contest but something that will provoke though and interest in visitors to the FB site.

I'll probably run a sweepstake at some point in the future. I've found various things you can purchase on Fiverr which would make great little gifts - rag dolls, paper flowers etc.

I'm going to work on my blog more. I plan on putting social buttons on it, under each post and on the side bar. I will also automatically upload my blog posts to my FB page - all my blog posts have an image and I will be uploading to my Pinterest board as well.

Also, on my facebook page I will post other content - mainly picture with a message from me.

Another good idea I've come across is to make a post on a FB page with a question to visitors - maybe upload several versions of cover images for my ebook and ask visitors which they prefer, that sort of thing.

I know that I simply can't put content of FB, Blog, Pinterest and Twitter and expect followers (obviously using FB ads will get me traffic). I know that I am going to have to follow others, make comments on their sites and then try to establish a relationship and ask for them to follow/like my sites.

Anyhow, a lot of work and money but my niche is outside of IM and think that social media may be a way of getting subscribers.

      As to your last point...

I believe that you can set up a personal account on FB and then set up business pages and that there is a separation between them and your personal page so friends and family won't even know I've got business pages under my account. I found a link from FB somewhere that explained how to set it up but I don't have it to hand and it's now getting very late here in Melbourne.

      Thanks again
      Robert

How can you have a business page if you're not personally on FB? How would you know how our World works? My advice is to make a personal FB account first, then set up business pages.

Actually, I find FB is very brilliant at stopping Worlds colliding - much better than Google, who are idiotically stupid at it (e.g. asking YouTube users to use their real names Lmao).

I'm starting to like FB a lot, and I will be doing a lot more with it in 2013.

I'm not entirely sure about Facebook promotion any more, they stopped most of the effective strategies sometime ago. Unless you have a service that you're offering locally, or your creating a cult of personality I'm not entirely sure it's that effective. For example, with my Facebook Cover maker program and Facebook chat app the conversion rate through Facebook is very low in comparison to Google traffic.

I work on the Facebook Client Chit Chat. Chit Chat is a Facebook chat application that you can use on your desktop in order to send and receive Facebook messages. It supports Facebook chat history, text formatting, sound alerts and much more!

Your on the right track but try to have some images of the niche. FB is a social platform so make it fun for the viewer.
