If you're looking to build a Twitter following (not paying for non targeted followers) and the max point of following others is 2,000. Is it ok to slowly unfolllow those that do not follow you (ie unfollow about 20 a day or so). Does Twitter frown on this? Will they delete your account for doing that?

Yes, If you unfollow 20 Twitter users/day they will not block your account but I would highly recommend that don't horribly unfollow them between every hit you need to expand time! Like in every 10 minutes one UnFollow Hit!

I use manageflitter to do this, the free account will show you every one who do not follow you back and you can then unfollow them. The key is to keep the numbers low. I unfollow no more than 70 people in 24 hours and do it in blocks of 10, unfollow 10 wait a couple of minutes then do 10 more. Also I never follow more people and then unfollow others in the same day. This has worked fine for me. However there comes a point when you should really be engaging people on social media sites and getting more followers that way.

You should unfollow slowly so that it looks natural.

Yes, it is Ok to unfollow slowly. I would suggest you to go very carefully with this i.e. Unfollow 6-7 per day. Also vary the number the next day say just 3 or 4. making it look natural is more important.
