Facebook Conversion Tracking. WTF?!

Does anyone here know if this is possible yet through Facebook? I have read numerous blogs, news posts etc that say they tried a BETA and then cancelled it. And now they have this whole "conversion specs" thing if you want to use optimized CPM bidding but there is no direction anywhere written in real people terms about how to use it.

Anyways, here is what I am trying to accomplish. We have a customer who spends quite a bit of money on Facebook.

We want to:

1. track the traffic from Facebook using a service like LinkTrackr and then
2. be able to see which of those people made it to his checkout page (much like Google Adwords conversion tracking.)
3. We mush be able to mask our URL in the Facebook ad.

We tried LinkTrackr and it was great except we weren't able to mask our URL's without purchasing and entirely new domain name and pointing the name-servers to Linktrackr. Needless to say, when the user saw "linktracker.com" as the destination URL in the Facebook ads, the CTR dropped like a fly.

    There are many ways to do this, some advance and some quite simple all depends on how in-depth you want to go, but one question is how do you know link tracker was entirely to blame for the click through rate dropping, if the ad had been run for a while then it could be that it had saturated its reach.
