Facebook Graph Tool & Social Media Marketing

According to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the new Graph tool will allow you to search all the information shared with you on Facebook for specific search terms, while maintaining privacy of information not shared.

This begs the question: How can this be used in social media marketing to increase your exposure. Is it a matter of just getting more likes so that queries will show your content, or targeting certain searched phrases in your page.

Any ideas? I think if we all put our heads together, we can use this tool for our advantage.

Hi, Isnt it amazing, the newer thing and more powerful thing mentioned, and no replies, is this the SM forum or not? No lets stick to fiverr gigs and fake likes all round!

    Jeez :-)

Anyway , this works best (or will) with those who have the most connections/ friends as it only uses your friends in the search functions, so it will only give results that are found through trawling through your connections.

You want to find people coming to Montana who have tickets for the upcoming festival , have shown they like a certain rock band and love eating pizza , you can do that, but it will only show such people who are discoverable through your friends and their connections , so like a search engine has a starting point and then trawls through using all the links from the various connected sites etc , this will start at your friends list, and only find whats connected to and through them , so the more friends you have and the more friends they have, the better your search results will be.

For brands (well connected) this is huge, for influencers this is useful, for the smaller businesses this is vital to get a grip of asap.

Hopefully this will get the ball rolling, happy to discuss more

I agree - the big guys with the followers are going to be able to target better. Smaller businesses need to gain more traffic to see any benefit - doesn't need much as 100 good interactive followers are better than 5000 uninterested ones.

What do you see as the best way then to gain traffic?

My top tip is build connections with complimentary pages and start helping each other build traffic.

I'm not a fan of fake likes, but if this new Facebook Search is about connections, would fake likes result in showing up more in people's searches? From what I understand of the fake likes, they come from a video or some other content that someone wants to see, but has to hit like first. This like is then passed on to whatever page the owner of the content wants (correct me if I am wrong). Would buying tens of thousands of those likes get you more connected & showing up more in searches? I am not planning on doing this - Just asking the question......

In regards to gaining traffic, I have found image posts with a famous quote to be best. Comics are also good.

But how do we use that to increase traffic through the new Facebook search function?
