FB Marketing Question

Hi,

I'm thinking about selling a digitial product on FB. Simple question or two, I guess...

Is it OK, even recommended, to create a FB account/page specifically for the product itself? Or is this disallowed or frowned upon by FB?

I have a FB account. Obviously I don't know much about FB or FB marketing. I do know that a business can create a FB business account. So as an extension of that, can one create a FB account for, say, a product called Google Dominator 4.0?

If this is allowed, is it a good idea to do it or does it really not make a difference?

  • B2zone,

Yes it is fine to create a product specific page. There are tons of companies (many fortune 500) that create brand and product specific pages.

For instance Starbucks has their company page but they also have product pages like this one for Frappuccino,

    http://www.facebook.com/Frappuccino

Apple has a page but they also have an iPhone page,

    http://www.facebook.com/iPhone.page

I would say that it is a very great way to promote a specific product aside from your general company page.

    Hope that helps,

I think its best to have a separate FB profile for the product you want to sell and then just use your profile to provide the profile link of your product. Then build and share posts which are relevant to the product you are promoting.

I would highly recommend setting up a fanpage specifically designed for this niche. It's one way to offer value and keep people in touch with what you are doing.

I guess the first question is will you just be selling one product and that is it?

If so, you are better off using Ebay and/or Craigslist.

If you are doing this often then definitely fanpage is the way to go.

Yes, you can do this....but remember, this is Social Media. People don't log onto Facebook to buy products. You have to be very creative, know your target market and provide excellent, compelling content to sell that type of product.
