Yes you can - However none of the pages are really specifically targeted, so any direct CPA advertising like that is difficult - it's more likely to annoy people.

I'm trying to think of ways to monetise mass traffic ?

Hi,

Google Adsense is just a way to monetize your target people. You got already established traffic which is key for conversion.

The next thing is probably the easiest part and that is making a offering that your target people cannot refuse and brings you money.

Google Adsense is not the only one out there ... (although GA is good)

Consider the following:

1) Affiliates - ClickBank?
2) YPN / BidVertiser / AdBrite / Chitika
(Or Google -> Google Adsense Alternatives)
3) CPM
4) Banner Advertsing (BuySellAds)
5) Product Selling (e-Book / WSO )

PS: And forward some Traffic to Fourerr

You can try creating a website that is closely related to the topic of your Facebook page and monetizing that website as best as you can. For example, if your Facebook page is dedicated to funny pictures you could create a website that is also dedicated to funny pictures.

I have a fan page with 70K fans, and nobody on that page knows who I am.

Yet i still manage to 5 figures per month from it.

It's all about your niche and how you monetize it - IF it can be monetized.

Lady Gaga has 58 million facebook fans.

And that's not exactly true. Coincidentally enough, an article came out that has said the Facebook Fanpage Spam "industry" is worth 200 million dollars.

You don't have to be anyone to have a fanpage with millions of likes. The OP also said he has fanpages that equal 8million. It really doesn't take much to get thousands of likes out of nowhere. You just have to identify with people. For example, the facebook fanpage "Saying oh! like you get it. But you still have no idea" has 1 million likes. The facebook fanpage "Blanket on- too hot, blanket off- too cold, stick leg out- Just Right!!!" also has 1 million likes. Why? Because people want to just add that to their facebook profile because it's about them. There are hundreds if pages like this. It's hard to monetize them though, because people don't want to click on spam of a fanpage they just joined for fun. People also unlike when a fanpage is getting too spammy and isn't funny.

Targeted promotions to the demographics of each page. Don't promote the same thing to all pages at once if the pages are on wildly different topics.

Thanks ttenner - Some good suggestions there.

1) I think pages need to be more specifically targetted to excel at CPA, however the pages are great for sending "like" to targetted pages, so this could be viable
2) YPN won't accept any of my websites, I tested Bidvertiser and found them truly TERRIBLE - They didnt include about 90% of the traffic then paid less than 0.001p per click! - Currently testing Adbrite and Chitika - although the latter only works for Organic traffic - I THINK ?
3 - CPM - Can you recommend any good networks? I have tried LifeStreetMedia, and a few others but can't hit higher than 0.20 CPM .. which is poor! (I can hit around 300,000 PV per day on any of my sites)
4 - I applied to BuySellAds and they never even responded to the application
5 - Hadn't thought of this ..

mcwalker25 - Could you give an example of what you would consider a general offer? I had some small success targetting women with some makeup CPA, and some facebook app CPA - the targetting options are Gender, Relationship Status, Educational Status, Interested in (That's Gay or Straight basically), Age, location, Language

Ummm yea Lady Gaga charts #1 because she has 54 million fans. Thats the reason it has nothing to do with her singing ability Im sure. Or her label. Or deals with radio stations etc. Its all because of her 54 million fans. Come on do you really believe that? She does not get #1 ratings because of her fans she has fans because of her #1 ratings.

That being said what the OP said makes little sense. He said he can direct traffic to any website he wants at any time, if this where true it would be easy to earn money. Something is missing from the story here I think.

Either that or the OP is fishing for people to PM him with traffic purchase offers.

First you have to understand your audience. What kind of pages are they? What is the avatar of that person? Meaning...What are they like? what do they think? What else do they like? How old are they? Male or female? And so on. Once you can determine that, you can start to frame offers to them.

Are they crappy "like this cute dog picture" pages or are they legitimate? It is hard to believe that you could gather that many likes for a legitimate page in that short amount of time.

Also ...do you just have a bunch of likes or do people actually care about the page. Does it get any visitors?

Personally I would advise you to use an adscene alternative one thats not so touchy as google. There are lots out do some research
Also I dont know if it would be more profitable but as well as PPC there is also CPM

Can I ask do you have a WSO or offer advise and traffic generation
I would kill for that kind of traffic

Expresso - Do you (or anyone else) recommend a specific Adsense alternative? I have tested loads and none seem to have payouts even close to HALF of Adsense.

My knowledge of FB in particular, as well as our custom built apps and plugins could definitely lead to a VERY desirable WSO, however I have no idea how to go about creating one, It's something I would consider.

In short, i'm stuck and depressed. I (used to) believe that social marketing is the future and fans/likes/followers the currency, more people spend time on sites like Facebook than anywhere else, yet I can't seem to make any legroom!

What should I do ??

- Sell the fanpages, and get a 9 to 5 ?
- Explore a new avenue within Social marketing? - Please feel free to suggest one.
- Other

I hoping you guys can help, any positivity, support or advice will be gratefully received. I'm even open to partnerships/JV's if you have a really good idea.

I think your situation is highly dependent on the niche you're in...

What types of fans/followers do you have?

If I were you I would make posts on my facebook wall and have them opt-in to my email address. Send them to a blank web page that has a description about you or your alias (keep in mind the niche you're in) and then give them a strong reason and call to action to enter in their name and email address...

Now you can market to them in the future via email instead of Facebook and you could still sell the Facebook page after a couple weeks of building your list.

Now you should send relevant offers to them by email. Could be CPA offers where you get paid when they enter in their email for another service or could be affiliate offers. It all really depends on your niche

IMO, do you know what would interest your fans from the page?

I would go more deeper to find out what would interest them. You can start a poll, voting or even conducting a survey on your FB page to find out who they are and what interest them the most.

Are all the fans real human? I mean there's no bots or fake accounts?

Whats you plugins and apps about brah? Perhaps you are targeting the worng market. Instead of trying to force products on an unresponsive market, offer your products to people who want them...depending on what they do.

Meaning...if your products are valuable to IM/MMO folks, why not sell to them instead of chasing penny clicks on Facebook?

I cant really recommend any PPC company as I have not been on your end of the transaction
but you could also look at selling traffic this might get you some money
In a similar vain you could sell youtube views or face book likes

Two thousand pounds a month in lost revenue with no clear explanation would piss me off to no end. I wouldn't let it go until I had a understanding of precisely how their TOS had been violated.

Google (and Facebook) make it supremely challenging for you to contact them, but you should be calling/emailing/faxing them non-stop until they give you a reason for why they banned your sites.

Don't take no for an answer.

Eventually, you will hear back from them. Best case, it was done in error. Worst case, you've spent a few minutes learning what not to do next time.

I think he said 20k in 10 months. Thats actually not that much if you consider the taxes he paid, time and effort put into it etc.

And yes he can take no for an answer because Google is a business and they will ban and or unban whomever they want.

I am lucky to have my Adsense, but my adwords is banned and no matter what I have tried I cant get it un-banned.

You cant just build adsense sites for pure adsense profit. Your sites have to be built upon your content, products, services etc. You are not actually supposed to build websites and drive traffic purely for adsense.

Classic old advertising problem. Untargeted traffic.

You know why traffic networks sell untargeted traffic for so little because it is very hard to convert it.

8 million fans means nothing. It's not about quantity but quality.

I know people who are making a ton more money than you from fan pages with only 20,000 members. Why? Because those fans are targeted and have joined for a specific reason.

That is your downfall here.

The only hope you have of making a profit is by doing general offers that target the average person or doing offers that only target a certain section of your users. Either way you are likely to start getting people unliking your page and also submitting spam complaints against you.

I'm really not sure there is a whole lot you can do with this group of fans.

Man, if those 8 million fans are real, that is absolutely awesome!

Its a shame to hear that adsense has banned you, but what is interesting is that you managed to generate $20,000 revenue before you were banned. This means that somebody was PAYING for your traffic and the only reason people pay for traffic is because they are able to make a profit from the traffic.

I really don't believe your traffic is totally useless. If you are getting a low CTR and the traffic is hard to convert I would try to concentrate on making every conversion count. For example, if you could sell something like hosting or any other product that requires a monthly subscriptions, even though you would get a small number of conversions relative to the traffic, each conversion would continue to keep paying you a monthly income.

Another idea is to create more sites and use the massive traffic you are getting to launch those sites. What you want to create are sites where most of the content is user generated (forums, reddit type sites, Q & A sites). All these types of sites require critical mass to really get going, but once they get going they pull in exponentially more traffic from search engines because of the huge amount of content they create. Just look at how big stackoverflow.com and this forum have gotten, the owners of these sites make plenty of money because their audience is now 'primed' and 'targeted'. Best thing is that the content is mostly user generated and these sites just keep growing and growing. But like I said, these sites need critical mass before they really get going, with the amount of traffic you are able to send I am sure you can create that critical mass.

Seriously, I do not know how you got so many legitimate fans, I'd do anything for that. You have no reason to lose hope.

but you may be missing the bigger issue. Why did google ban them? We really would need more detail because as everyone (hopefully) has learned by now...u can't beat system in long run. What he needs to do is an in-depth analysis of those 8 million followers. Then start segmenting out special offers to different niches to see which one can generate most conversion AND be sustainable. 8 million of anything is garbage unless you know what it is and how to feed them what they want.

I know this thread is OOOOLD but if anyone is still wondering how to monetize a page like this hear is my suggestion. If its a non specific niche.

Step one.
Create 5 different pages in different niches, and download a picture that relates for each of those niches.

Step two.
Upload the picture to the main page and tag your new niche page and say, i got this pic from this heallth and beuty fanpage! Anyone interested should go like his page

step 3
Repeat for your other niches

Step 4
promote an offer to the relevant fans of each niche page once a day

step 5 keep funneling fans from the main page into the 5 different niche pages.

You need to be branded in either name or product before you even had your Facebook page originated to generate sales. It is first and foremost a social platform and not a commerce platform. People overrate Facebook as an easy revenue generator. If you developed it socially first, sales will be tough! My two cents!

maybe you don't have a great business model? what is your niche? or it could be that you're getting irrelevant traffic. it's not really about the traffic you know, it's about the traffic that are relevant and would likely convert.

It's really difficult to gather some likes or follow your fan page in Facebook but the first thing that you must do it collect some likes to your friends, family, and relatives then go to other fan page then exchange likes to them it really needs more patience but it will not take long because many people will follow your fan page because many people can easily find your page.

It would help if we knew what your fan pages were about. Depending on what niche your pages are in you could create your own products, promote affiliate products, build a mailing list to promote your products and offers etc. Don't worry about annoying a few fans, as long as you aren't spamming your page. You are always going to have haters.

You have a fan page with 8 million fans. Its really great. The way to make money directly from your Facebook fan page is to create a Facebook store. Details of which I can't really go into - But I was able to legitimately, and legally acquire 30,000 facebook email addresses in just 1 month, whilst growing a fanpage by the same number.

In short, i'm stuck and depressed. I (used to) believe that social marketing is the future and fans/likes/followers the currency, more people spend time on sites like Facebook than anywhere else, yet I can't seem to make any legroom!

What should I do ??

- Sell the fanpages, and get a 9 to 5 ?
- Explore a new avenue within Social marketing? - Please feel free to suggest one.
- Other

I hoping you guys can help, any positivity, support or advice will be gratefully received. I'm even open to partnerships/JV's if you have a really good idea.

your fans are of general category as you say in your post, but maybe you can now create segmentation between them. Create new pages, and promote those pages properly on your existing page. Be careful about targeting this time.
you can get to know what people are interested in what through surveys. If your followers are real you can still earn money out of them. Its not difficult to find who likes what.

Start experimenting with them. You can start your own blog, and start directing traffc there from here. You can market affiliate products on your blog to earn money.
