Destination URL for Facebook Ads

Hi,

I' kinda new to facebook advertising, and this will probably sound like an overly silly question  , but can you choose a FB app URL as the destination URL for the ad?

Or do I have to use a URL I own and use a redirect to the app URL instead.

I've heard Facebook is sometimes more quickly to disapprove newer FB add accounts, so I don't want to run any risks here, at least, more than necessary.

Thanks

Bart

If you mean by using an app to create a tab, and then send them to the tab?

    Of course

Facebook has been denying a lot of ads lately so don't get discouraged if that happens to you

Yes, James, that's what I meant.

I knew it might have sounded silly, but better safe than sorry

And thanks for the encouraging words. I prepare to get a lot of ad variations ready. I will bombard the FB ad approval team until it gets approved.

      Thanks

          Thanks Barry,

Persistance and faith is what IM is a lot about imo. I'll be glad to offer the FB ad team a chance to give me a possible reality check. Let's see what it brings me...

Yeah you Facebook is denying a lot of ads lately. You should continue to create differnet ad copies and they'll might approve some of them.

Yup, you can certainly use the FB app url in your destination URL and to avoid getting a rejection from FB team, please ensure that

*The destination URL must function properly in all browsers
*The destination URL must not lead users to a site that is under construction or to an error page
*Ads may not direct to the Facebook homepage (www.facebook.com)

      Great info.
One more question that playes around in my head.
Does FB also check you destination URL, I my case LP's I have set up for the destination url.
And also do they check the root domain for that particular lander.
Mostly it is something like this: //myrootdomain.com/de/lpedates.php
So my question is , do they also look what is on the root domain? instead of only looking to the destination url.
Or don't they check the destination url what so ever, and is it only the ad they are approving?

      Thx,

        Hi darkvark,

Facebook checks your landing pages, that's for sure. They want to check that your destination URL works in all browsers, for one thing. They also verify your destination URL contains no popus, popunders, etc.

I don't know if they check the root domain, I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I can't see what the added value would be.

If you follow their guidelines, you should be ale to stay out of trouble. It contains some valauable information, so it's a good read. They say f.i. that a user must be able to navigate to another page when he lands on your landing page...

Anyway, good luck with your destination URL's
