Just say NO to fiverr spam gigs

I'm officially done with buying fiverr gigs.

I've had a few good ones in the past but the sheer ratio of garbage from the cesspool of human parasites is beyond belief.

Just got scammed by someone offering "100% real followers" on Pinterest.

I should have known better. I know... I know. But I fell for it. The gig had 100% thumbs up from numerous buyers.

Are people really that stupid that they think they got the real goods? Or are they scared to "Neg" the seller in case of some kind of retribution.

Of course, the Pinterest followers were total fake accounts with the same spammy pins scattered quasi-randomly throughout them in a pathetic attempt to look legitimate. I just spent a happy afternoon deleting and blocking about 200 of them.

I've had some unbelievable scams on fiverr. One of the most heinous in the past was the article writer who was doing "character set spinning" so that the article looked legit but was in fact a copy of an existing page that had been put through some sort of ASCII set spinner tool. Copy paste even the word "the" from the article and you get zero matches in google!!! But manually type in an exact phrase and it's all there.

Amazingly (or perhaps not) the seller was in absolute denial that his "service" was anything other than noble and virtuous, and got very angry accusing me of scamming him (!!!) and making threats. The trouble with these scumbags is that they often seek retribution if you attempt to expose or report them.

I've also had a couple of really terrible link building gigs where I got utter spam links i.e. cloaked "footer" links on scraped site, in an invisible text block along with countless other spammy links.... thanks a bunch.

How is it that people think they are going to succeed in life by being a parasite? You put so much energy into trying to beat the system that you end up failing in life because you failed to invest in the most important asset of all - yourself. All you learned is how to be a rat and so you gradually exclude yourself more and more from the chance of true success because you are no longer an asset to anyone.....

I could not agree with you more, I gave up on fiverr gigs long ago, most of them will actually hurt your accounts, rankings and so forth... I would suggest to steer clear unless you need a "testimonial" video and those are even hard to come by.. lol

No offense but what did you expect for $5? The moral here is that you get what you pay for and you get out of your online business what you put into it. When you need to outsource work you should be looking for the 'best' not the 'cheapest' and always remember that those two things rarely come from the same person.

@FirstSocialApps what did I expect? I expected someone offering a paid service not to be a lying, cheating scumbag. I already admitted that I should have known better!

Sometimes people do offer good value for money. I have article writers who do $5 articles for me that are amazing, scholarly, professional. They offer a highly competitive service.

The person who scammed me was very clever and created a very good looking 'veneer' which was only visible in retrospect. It's hard to know who to trust and it's also a mistake to shift the blame onto the victim. I looked at the string of 100% positive feedback they had achieved and based my final decision on that.

As for what I put into it, you have no idea of the thousands of dollars of investment and the years of 10+ hour days I have put into my business.

      Hello friend.

I provide a service on Fiverr which I value highly. I truly believe in doing a great job for everyone I work with, regardless if it's only $5 they're paying me. I guess it helps that I love what I do, and I think a good way to spot a quality Fiverr seller is to extensively look at their feedback.

Good business builds happy clients and repeat business. These shady sellers get found out quickly, and because they don't know how to run a service business, make (at best) a quick buck or two.

Fiverr support will always help you out if you have been scammed, so don't forget you can always get your money back. Time is the real currency though, but making mistakes and learning from them is how we eventually succeed.

I've had some good logos and banners off of fiverr.

I haven't bought anything else from there tbh so I can't really comment. I'v found a seller that I like and I sticking with him. Maybe I've been lucky.

It does look like there is an awful lot of crap there though.

There's a place for fiverr though it's probably a minority of gigs that you'd want to get. Believe it or not I've bought some awesome stuff on Fiverr.

It's really in what you get. Yes, if you are trying to get promotion with spammy accounts like the Pinterest gig, you're not going to be happy.

But there are a few gigs that are really worth so much more than $5 it's amazing they even offer them there. There are a few great providers who either are so desperate they give great service for $5 or they have a really popular gig and make decent money by volume.

Sorry that this did not work out for you. I am not sure if others just mark a positive experience or if they do really fear a retaliation. I know that I had leaving negative feedback but when it needs to be done you have to do it. If they deserve the negative feedback then you have to do it.

Fiverr is great for a cheap logo or banner design. I have also had some good luck with press releases. But I haven't found any link-building gigs that were worth the $5. The video testimonials are okay but its been the same several people for a awhile now so you start to see the same people acting like a real customer and it could backfire with too much exposure.

No offense, but you sound like you've been through hell and couldn't be wise enough to protect your hard earned money.

    That's poor judgement.

Like you said " I should have known better" and you've spend thousands of $$$ and years of 10+ hours of working daily, and you haven't learned a thing. And to think it happened several times. And yes, you got yourself to blame...

My point is, it's a jungle out there. Fiverr is like a forest of awesome stuff, but proceed with precaution.

I've made the same mistake a few times and paid for twitter and facebook gigs. My curiosity got the best of me, but I wasn't surprised when it didn't work out.

At least we're only out a few bucks!

I think fake followers can be good in some instances just to make people trust you more. If they see you have more people following you they could be more likely to trust you.

I agree with the OP. I've had nothing but bad luck with Fiverr and SEO-related gigs. The best thing you can do is grow your website traffic organically.

I believe that fiverr was real good and was offering quality to both buyers and sellers. But now its getting worst as u can find people over forums looking for trading gigs etc.. Fiverr dont have control over them and thus quality is getting depleted every day

SEO & Social Media = stay away from fiverr at all cost if you don't want to be disappointed.

Things like testimonials, logo designs, banners - work well to my experience.

There are also priceless gigs on fiverr too. You just have to get recommendations from people who are satisfied with the work done. The spamming destroys the soul so I'm in total agreement with you there.

I use to run a fiver gig that was popular and I made a lot of money but it required a lot of work because I was delivering quality work. I got so swamped with orders I could not keep up and it was hard to find reliable help so I just shut it down. I agree most gigs are junk.

Use fiverr for design and content, say no to any backlinks or buying shares and likes. They are repetitive and can be traced easily.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

Hey m8, just think what service you were after in the first place: Buying followers. So, u were already trying to scam Pinterest by buying followers and presenting them as real. You were after a shady service from the beginning. I run gigs on Fiverr for two years now, never had an issue and always overdelivered. And there are plenty more decent hard working pros in Fiverr, but for real services...

Any better alternatives to Fiverr? I've tried Craigslist (populated with fakers), Odesk (never want to meet in person and take days to return) and Elance (no turnaround days and high [really high] prices).

I'm new to fiverr and only made 2 purchases so far that was decent work, no complaints.
I have seen the traffic and promo type gigs but I stay away from them because there is no way I'd get what they offer for a measly $5. And from what I'm reading here there seem to be a few warriors that are unhappy with those types of purchases.

In general I am quite satisfied with Fiverr. But I usually only hire them form graphic work, never for seo or other similar jobs - this could be dangerous.
