Struggling to get Facebook going!

Hopefully someone can shed some light on my endless battle with Facebook!

I'm finding Twitter a lot easier...I've got 1,500 followers (most are fairly targeted) albeit I use software to get the followers the majority of the time...but Facebook is much harder for me, I only have 70 likes and it's demoralising when your competitors have 10,000+

How on earth do you gain genuine likes? Anyone got any golden tips for me to give my page a kick-start?

I did find that by posting photos of one of my events it really got a lot of the people who attended the event tagging, commenting and sharing but aside from that it's a fairly dead and inactive page.

It would be so much easier if I could just add people who 'Liked' a competitors page or something!

Have you been into this for quite some time? Because in Facebook, I usually find it takes quite a while to get things going, but hey, maybe it's just me. Anyway, you could always modify the contents of your page, perhaps make it a bit more catchy and intriguing. Invite your friends and their connections to your page too and ask them to like and comment and then proceed to your links. Best of luck to you!

The only way I've had success getting my Facebook Likes up is running FB ads. I found a $100 FB ads coupon on the Internet for $7 - it's been a while so not sure where I found it but you can do a search.

After I got about 2,000 likes, (it took a week or so), I stopped running the FB ads and just put content on the FB page that had a tendency to go viral like memes, quotes, awesome pictures and video, word search puzzles, etc.

With the coupon, I did not spend any of my own money. You can target the ads and get the cost down to a few pennies CPM (8 cents for mine) and set a daily spend limit of about $10 to easily stay within budget.

This is exactly what I'll do again when I want likes for any other Facebook page I put up.

I assume you regularly mention your Facebook page to your Twitter followers?

Otherwise, I can only reiterate what's been said above re advertising your page on Facebook. You should be able to find £50 advertising coupons on Fiverr (though you'll only be able to use one once). However if you target well, and your advert is good you should significantly increase your fans.

From there, get your fans to share your page regularly by running competitions "want tickets to our next event, share this page and we'll pick a couple of winners at random" that kinda thing.

Alright guys, I'm giving the Facebook adverts a go, I did this before and had like 100+ clicks but no likes or sales, I think I might have been using their ad's as opposed to the 'Promote the page' one...I take it that's different? Well, i'm waiting on the advert to be approved and we'll see how we go!

Worry less about like count and more about engagement.

What would you prefer to speak to, a group of 70 people in a conference room, that are listening intently to every word you say or a group of 10,000 people who are ignoring you completely?

Fan count is nice for stroking your ego, engagement is king if you actually want to do something profitable with your page.
