LinkedIn: Ok.. now what?

I have a LinkedIn account. It's been up for about 2 years. I have about 750 connections on it. I know there is a ton of information out there, and I'll check it out, but for now.. anyone have some ideas for a business owner to get clients from LinkedIn?

I have some automation software that I recently purchased, but struggling a bit to maximize LinkedIn. Any suggestions.. any WSO's, any products... can you recommend anything? =)

My view is that LinkedIn is a Corporate Business Social Media Network.. Corporate..... I hope you get it.. I don't think that's Your Platform for Getting your product in that Niche. I may be wrong.. Let's see what the War Room can do?

  • Asiriusthoth,

In my opinion, there is really only a couple of ways that you can generate new business with a following like that on LinkedIn. You can either send out mass direct messages with links to whatever it is you are promoting or you can become a thought leader and post content on a regular basis encouraging people to read, share and otherwise interact with it.

Social media in general is more of a passive selling space. People don’t go to these networks to look for things to buy but they are either looking to make connections or to get information. I think if you start sending direct messages you will alienate your connections. If, however you can put out content that is useful on a regular basis, you may find people taking interest.

That’s my take anyway. I think real conversions happen elsewhere but social networks are great for getting in front of eyeballs and positioning yourself as a leader in your field.

Here is post talking about how linkedin won’t help you sell,

3 Reasons LinkedIn Won't Help You Sell

And here is a slideshow showing people secrets to selling on linkedin (so I think they are for it)

Hope that helps, (*Note: Click the view link to see the slideshow off WF)

I'm selling on Linkedin every day. It's the best lead source in my arsenal. How well you do with it all depends on how you use it and what you have to offer.

I created a group and use it as a means to build a list to whom I can sell my services. I also joined a bunch of other groups. So, I'm getting clients left and right by contacting members of my own group and groups I belong to.

There's a guy named Eric on the forum that has a great, low-cost product on how to get started with selling to your own group. You'll need to couple his strategy with your own irresistible offer as I think the latter can make or break your success with selling on Linkedin.

Do you know anything else about the guy named Eric that you can pass along? Website, last name, link, etc. I'd be interested in learning more about his LinkedIn product about using groups.

      Thanks.

I would recommend making a company business page and tell your connections to follow it. This way you can get your connections engaged in your business!

You can create company page and add your products and services listed there. If people in your connections are satisfied wit your services, they might recommend you and you can get online reputation of your service. By seeing this you might get clients.

Yes, that's true. Linkedin is the place to advertise for yourself. And I would say it's rather static than dynamic. It's like a poster you show and not a telephone call, if you know what I mean.
