Need help with Facebook Marketing

Hi everyone!

I am working on a jewellery facebook page, we have gone from 75 likes to 544 and they are all organic. I post interesting posts, things to go viral (pics) and run competitions - these do really well. My most recent post had 11,800 people who 'saw this post', 52 shares and 10 new likes to the page.

I just had a meeting at the company and their staff. They want to see people coming from facebook to the shop. Luckily all the facebook fans are local as that is what i have been targeting. However, i can't seem to get them in the store.

My last method was 'free jewellery clean' just like and share the post - this did really well (statistics are above) and the winner will come in the store, and possibly may purchase something.

I need more ideas of getting the local facebook users to come into the store....

Tricky!!!

  • Cfreshdesign,

You could try offering Facebook accessible only coupons to your followers. Also if you had success with the first campaign, maybe try offering it again.

Really if you want people to come to the store, you have to give them a reason to do it. Facebook is just the medium by which they find out about it. You could ask management to hold sales or events or contests in-store and then promote them on Facebook.

Here is an eBook on the topic of attracting customers,

    Hope that helps,

How to make them come into your store ..... You can do like a local shop here did: they announced a product ssoooo cheap that a great deal of people went to buy ... and the stock was extremely limited. When i was there, there were only similar products at higher prices, and the "promotion" was out. But there's the risk that those people never come back

You could have a sale, promote it on Facebook, and state "come into our store and show us this post on your mobile phone and receive an additional 5 or 10% off your total purchase". I recently went to a bar where if I show the bartender that I liked there page in person, they gave me a free shot of liquor and it shows on my profile that I liked this bar!

Facebook now has an "event" option, you can set something up at your store like a "promotional event" and entice people to show up by offering a discount, food etc..

    Hi Cfreshdesign,

The best way I could think of is to include links to your shop in the status updates. You could offer customers coupons (discounts) which can only be accessed through the link. This will effectively drive traffic, along with sales, to the shop.

Also, you could run a giveaway contest on Facebook, to generate traffic onto your shop. If you don't know how to do it, rafflecopter can help. It's free.

Well, he has to ask the jewelry company first if this can be done. based on his post, I think he was hired to manage the reputation of the store.Your suggestion is great by the way.

My suggestion by the way is to create a demand. There's no use sharing images or posts on social media if you aren't able to create a demand. Like what others have said, you can offer discounts, limited time offers or any other ways that would create a demand.

For face book page its not necessary that you should upload only related pictures etc. You may also upload any other interesting pictures, videos or events that are liked by the localist. They will like, comments and shares and all the face book users engaged with you uploaded data will automatically see your page, even other user will had shares your posts. They will be directed to your page.
Most of the time I had used this strategy and found it good.

I have the same challenge as a social media manager for a sun glasses shop. It has a physical address and I've been targeting my ads and efforts to the local community. But I still have some difficulties trying to bring them to the physical shop, even giving discounts and trying to cross-feed facebook and the actual shop.
And it seems to me that Facebook is not displaying very often our fan page updates on our users' timelines, we're becoming increasingly dependent on ads and sponsored posts in order to get some relevance..

  • Hi, as a young female I can tell you how companies are getting my limited funds :-) Things like jewelry and shopping related items are really about timing for me and I think probably for many. Many of my purchases are based on it being the right time and my belonging to some list that is sending me well timed offers. You probably could only get me in a jewelry store if I was buying my mom something for mothers day, or my better half something for Valentines Day etc... I generally end up on these lists because of some contest for a freebie and eventually they wear me down and get me in the store :-)

I agree with shawn, local coupons. they have brought me into store in moscow and i come back to the good ones. coupon isn't limited to one person, it is without limit. best way to promote coupon is sponsored post thou, so if you have few dollars for sponsored, that is best.

The solution is in fact some sort of contest, we have used this technique over the past several years and continue to do so today. We have our client offer a product or service and hold a contest and have a scheduled drawing date. In order to enter the contest the person must first "like" the page and attend the drawing at the clients location if it is a brick and mortar business. The bottom-line is we have been able to procure literally thousands of likes using this method. People love FREE and guess what people also buy their products at the event :-) win-win

Perhaps give them a coupon code that they can use when they visit the store to get something like a 50% off for some items.

In how many days did you go from 75 to 544 ?

Have you also tried Twitter ? In my experience, the results (sales of products)
    are way higher with Twitter

Step 1: Run a campaign asking some jewellry questions. (keep in mind, some easy ones, so that more people will participate and make it to the shortlist)

Step 2: Announce those that answered all questions correctly.

Step 3: Ask them to come to store for hearing the final (raffle) winner announcement. Tell them if they don't show up, they don't get the freebie.

Step 4: Your customer can then offer discounts to those that did not win the final raffle. This is to make sure you don't make a huge crowd go home unhappy.

I do not want to demotivate you but 544 likes are not enough for sales. You certainly need more likes to get the results.

As someone rightly said above that you need to create demand. Now to create a demand you need to showcase some items which are eye catching, unique and not easily available anywhere else. Viewer should go crazy after looking at the pic and it should work as a magnet to pull the customer to the shop.

Hence ask the company to bring few unique items, get the products photographed by highly skilled professional and show it to the existing audience on fan page.

Facebook users are usually online community customers, to convert them to offline customers would definitely be challenging. I once offered free workshops, and can have over 1000 sign-ups but the turn-up would be lesst than 100.

My advise is to move with the times, if you have as much as 11,800 viewers, why not go online on your jewellery business instead of getting them to go "conventional" and come to your store.

I converted my workshop from "off-line" to "online" classrooms and the signed-ups are amazing. Just a point for noting.
