Fan pages or blogging for list building and providing content?
My initial incentive to capture leads is to offer a free video series applicable app development stuff.
It seems to me, from my limited knowledge of IM, that trying to build lists from a blog is not as effective as it used to be. That FB is really taking over and that maybe creating a fan page, creating FB apps, contests, blah blah blah may be the best approach and maybe the only approach I need.
So I am wondering if it would be feasible to only use a FB fan page for my content and leads gathering via Gating, etc. Or do I really need to be creating a blog that would mirror the fanpage's content as well.
My thought process for how to proceed would be to send targeted ads to all people in certain niche FB groups. I bought the WSO that allows you to extra this information. The ads would direct a user somewhere to opt in to my video series for free if they "Like" my fan page. Once I build this list, I would use FB and newsletters (assuming I was able to extract their email address for liking my fan page) to push new content. All while avoiding a blog.
The alternative would be the same targeted ad approach but to direct people to a website squeeze page with a Facebook connect opt-in form in lieu of an email signup form.
I'd love to focus on a single platform such as FB for providing content and list building, but if blogging is still essential I will duplicate my efforts on both platforms.
Lastly do you recommend any FB WSOs that allow for easy creation of FB apps, fan page tabs, contests, etc. Even if I blog too, I plan to use FB as well. So an easy tool(s) to build a slick fan page would be great.
Thank you all for any help you may be able to offer.
