The Power of Pinterest and LinkedIn

When people think of social networks to promote their blog, website, or company two social networks come in mind- Facebook and Twitter. These are both very powerful social marketing tools and it's because lots of people use them. What I learned this month is that there are two others that are forgotten, Pinterest and LinkedIn.

Before on my previous websites I have never used either of these, never even gave thought to using LinkedIn. On my new blog (just started this month) I thought I would give it a whirl and see what happens...I was astounded at the results.

My blog is a Web and Graphic Design blog, so obviously Pinterest would have a great effect on it, but LinkedIn too? Here were my results...

After 26 Days since the website was launched Pinterest had sent 703 users to it, and images from my site on Pinterest had reached 5,506 people making over 11,000 impressions. That's an insane amount of reach for a site that was launched less than a month ago.

LinkedIn didn't do too bad itself, although I just started posting to linkedin last week, it has already sent 175 users to my site (with 3 articles posted). For having never even thought to use LinkedIn, I am pleased with the results so far. I found out the key is to join groups on LinkedIn that are related to your niche (I have a web and graphic blog so I joined a few groups on web design and graphic design). You MUST be careful not to spam these groups with tons of articles and submissions though or you WILL get kicked. I've submitted 3 articles in 2 weeks and it's worked out well for me so far.

Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know that there is more out there than just Facebook and Twitter, and expanding your reach to different groups of people is a must when trying to grow your following.

Thanks,

Zac

Good results. I use pinterest a lot. But I must admit my numbers are not so great. I got some 250 users from Pinterest. My site is old as yours.

Now I have created another account for my new site that will be live in next week or two. It is about magazine design.
For it I have created LinkedIn Profile and group. I also think LinnedIn will be good source of traffic.

Linkedin is no more just a professional network.

You can actually engage in actual conversation with like minded people and learn from them via groups and communities.

I have had huge success getting people to come over for my webinar through linkedin.

Congrats on your success and hope you get more targetted visitors through linkedin and pinterest.

Pinterest has doubled my traffic since I started using it at the end of last year. It depends on your site though. Some niches lend themselves better to images that people want to pin and repin.

They key is to engage with others by repining pictures, commenting and liking on other pins. Creating a group board and inviting others with large followings can help too.

This is true, there is more out there than Facebook and twitter. Although using the Facebook and Twitter can have a huge help to promote your website, we should not overlook other potential source of traffic.

I only used Pinterest a little late last year and only began using linkedin last January. However the traffic in my website is overwhelming, it was more than double of my previous traffic while I was using Facebook and Twitter.

LinkedIn and Pinterest are really good if you use them smart. I would rate LinkedIn higher than Pinterest for marketing.

I would say that content plays a major role in any type of promotion. Almost all platforms can give you significant traffic if your content is informative and genuine.

I use LinkeIn a lot and it brought and still bringing good business to me but for some reason G+ stays in the shadow. There's a massive potential with G+ and don't forget that if you want to rank good in Google you have to have a G+ account. No many people know that but it's true.
Obviously there are some techniques you should do to maximize your results but you definitely have to try Google+.

I use LinkedIn as Pinterest both. Both have brought huge amount of traffic to my site. Pinterest is indeed very effective striking feature used in SMM to generate huge amount of traffic to your site. I also use LinkedIn focusing in mind to target certain individuals that I know can help grow my company and bring business.

Strange - I don't see a "thanks" button under any of the posts, but I'd really like to thank the OP for this info!

Funny, I've been putting off updating my Linkedin primarily because I figured it wouldn't benefit my blogzine, so I'll get to it when I get to it.

but... having read THIS thread, it's on my list of priorities for today - that's for sure!

    Thanks again!

Linked in and Pinterest are two of the most valuable place for getting more exposure aside from Facebook and Twitter. These two can bring significant traffic to your site through profile views and photo views.

    Hey Everyone,

I thought I would chime in here and let everyone know how it's been going on Pinterest and LinkedIn 4 months after I launched my site.

So far on Pinterest I am at over 750 followers, all gained by just posting daily. I am getting 2-4 new followers daily at the moment. Right now Pinterest is my #3 traffic source and has sent almost 6000 visitors to my website in just 4 months.

LinkedIn has been picking up substantially after a few of the articles I wrote were a big hit. LinkedIn has sent over 550 visitors to my website, 300 of which have came in the last 30 days.

Although these numbers may seem small to some people, I am very surprised of the traffic after just 4 short months of the site being live.

    Hey zwade,

That's awesome! Congrats. I would like to add that when it comes to social media sites, Youtube doesn't come into mind for many people. Despite it being a video sharing site, it has heaps of subscribers and viewers, and many people increasingly turn toward Youtube when they want to learn or watch something. Youtube has a very wide range of audiences, so it would be a powerful tool if you can tap into the video element.

    All the best.

    Cheers,

I just started my YouTube Marketing venture yesterday, I'm not good at making videos though so I may have to hire someone to make a good one, but we'll see how it goes.

I don't know anybody who denies the importance of pinterest and linkedin, These two have also helped in my most of my campaigns. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Linkedin are the Social Media, with them you can get more and more success to your business with endless limits.

Im an ardent fan of LinkedIn. Get traffic from posting to local groups in my niche.

Just signed up to pinterest: There are more nice looking youngish ladies than you can swing a cat at. The place seem to have a definite feminine flavor. Even the mens fashion section...

It took me a while to figure out my LinkedIn strategy, so im going to give Pinterest some time.

It's definitely made up of more women than men, so pins geared towards women work the best.

If you're B2B, LinkedIn is the best social network IMO. It's really about intent right, that's why Google own online advertising and Facebook don't. Folks on LinkedIn have intent to find work or find people and companies to work with. If you're selling B2B, that's invaluable.

I soooo agree. I have been wondering if I aught to up my efforts at FB, but I feel that business opportunity is too thin on the ground there. I which that someone could come up with solid numbers though.
