Clarification Needed Re: FB Ad Campaign I Just Started

This is my first time posting on this forum, although I've been a member and reading along for quite a while now.

I just know there will be some people here who can help me understand what I just did; LOL!

So - I started a FB ad campaign in an effort to get more "Likes" for my business page. Since I'm brand new to the concept of CPM vs CPC, ads, etc - I decided to go w/CPC and low budget ($2/day for just 4 days...) and .40/click. This is more of a test than an actual die-hard, all-out attempt to attract fans. I'll go for more when I better understand this whole thing.

Anywho - once I put my PP info through (on a side note, coupon codes didn't work, but that's totally irrelevant at this point...) I was taken to a stats page, which shows two different things going on. I scroll down and under the "name" category I see one for Likes Ad, and then one for Likes Sponsored Stories. Both show up at .40 bid.

WTH? Does this mean I have two separate campaigns going on?!? At the top, it looks like one campaign, but does this mean I will be doubly charged? I didn't see anything about "sponsored story" when I was creating the Likes Ad... so where did this come from? Stranger yet is that when I click on the "sponsored story" link, it just goes to my profile image - not an actual story.

Can anyone help me understand what the sponsored story has to do with my Likes Ad? I'm just hoping I'm not getting charged as if this is two separate campaigns... and if so, boy am I sure glad I kept this at such a very low budget as a test run!

boom i'll be the first to try to help ya bro.

    "Sponsored Stories
Help people discover your business through their friends. No increase in budget is required"

The sponsored stories help more, say when you're advertising for more engagement to a post. Such as if you post an awesome picture or video...when they click the story it goes right to that page. Also with the sponsored story if you were advertising to increase page engagement it will have whatever that friend did to enage with that page. Such as joe schmoe said "asdasdasdasd" or liked, shared, etcetera. Where as if your advertising to just increase fan page likes...thats where you have the standard joe schmoe liked "this page"

I want sponsored stories simply because it helps increase my social credibility.
"hey if my friends like it i will too"

Hope this help. keep shooting away with the questions. time for bed

Sponsored posts is something which is recently introduced by Facebook.

The stats were being shown to you to show the estimated reach of sponsored posts vs facebook ads.

You have the option to choose either sponsored posts or facebook ads.

Both of them are different things.

Fir sponsored posts, you need to pay one time.

For advertisements, you need to pay everyday as long as you want to run your ads.

    Got it! Thanks... okay...

but now - @harrieB - I understand what it IS now, between yours and the person above you's explanations... but I don't understand the part where you said we pay once for sponsored and everyday for advertisements. I only asked for advertisements, yet my stats page shows both ads and sponsored posts. I don't mind sponsored if it's just part of the package, I just hope I'm not getting billed for it.

Guess I'll find out as the next few days passes. I was only running the campaign for 4 days, so at least I won't get whammied badly if I do get charged twice.

Just make sure you actively monitor that before you end up being out of a lot of money if you misunderstood what you signed up for lol
