your competitors' social traffic

There's still a lot of talk out there about social ROI. Particularly hard to measure/benchmark without knowing the impact of social networks on your competitors' website traffic. Found that http://www.similarweb.com/ has started showing percentage of incoming social traffic. Has anybody tried it as an indicator of competitors' social effectiveness?

I do not think that the site is able to show data of all websites. They depend on sample size and this size is made up of their own users. What if a site is getting the tons of visits but none of those visitors are the member of similarweb? There will be no result from similarweb so this is why you cannot rely on this site.

This sums up a lot of my thoughts on these kind of ranking sites. The sample sizes are small for most normal sites.

Want to measure ROI for social? Do it the same way as with any other marketing and create trackable items like phone numbers, specials, and etc.

It all comes down to this is your social media making you money? If it isn't are you using it just as branding and consider it an expense? If you can't answer yes to one of those why are you using social media?
