Where do you get your daily content for your blog & social media accounts?

I am having difficulty coming up with daily content for my local clients. For example, if you wanted to post content on Google Plus Local & Mobile websites for local clients. Would you just subscribe to rss feeds and get your content from relevant topics?

Thanks

That would be ideal or using Google Alerts which is often recommended.

Exactly - put in your keywords and watch what other people are creating content about. Google Alerts is definitely one of the most useful free services on the web!

There are lots of ways to do this... Here are some suggestions I can offer you:

    1. Hire someone (article writer) at oDesk to do this on an hourly bases.
    2. Grab a curating software like curationsoft... This will make the process easier and faster.

As somebody already suggested, Google alerts is a very good place to get daily content.

Set up alerts for your niche and then curate the content that you find on a daily basis.

It's by far the easiest way to add content to your site and you will get tons of ideas on a daily basis... as long as your niche is not so tiny that only you are interested in it

I use Google Alerts. If there is a "source" for what you're working in Subscribe to all their feeds too. This would be like being aware of all Apple updates, regardless of where they're posted. If there is something worth reporting on, or that you can really leverage, it helps to be aware of it the moment it happens. For that, got to the source.

      1. Google alerts is good
      2. Hire content writers
      3. Scour related sites for topics
      4. Google images can help you find generic blog related info and pics for certain subjects
      5. Include a way for users/readers to submit content or ideas. Include a captcha or other security to reduce spam/bots.

This pretty much sums it up. You should post your own articles about your niche too so your readers can get information about your business directly from you. Share your thoughts and ideas. I don't think you'll run out of it.

  • Visit sites from your competitors to review content and learn what they are doing to stand out. Read press releases to stay on top of recent events and relevant trends in your niche. Try some of these sites to compare what others are doing successfully:

Honestly rather than getting content from others, just spend some time really talking about what you think is important, and make it interesting and interactive some how. Always have content that engages your customers/visitors.

Personally i use rss bandit - free RSS reader.

Spend about an hour finding sites that publish content you like in your niche, grab their RSS feeds, and put them in RSS bandit.

Then each morning (ideally with a strong coffee!) I fire up the RSS reader, click are share any interesting posts.

Couple that with using something like hootsuite (again, has a free version!), and you can schedule enough social shares/tweets etc for a a good day or so.

I tend to do that each day, or for 2 days, with interesting industry stuff, then every so often fire-up hootsuite and check for any mentions, DMs or personal interactions, and respond to them.

    Works well for me

For your blog - keep up to date with industry news & changes, and write your own thoughts on industry news/changes etc.

Also, grab yourself a calendar (download a free MS Word template at least!), and print it out.

Next, sit down and think about your readers... What topics are they interested in? - Try to get at least 6 topics!

Next, for EACH topic, think what problems your readers may have - what do they struggle with? What advice could they benefit from? - Try to get at least 3 or 4 ideas for each of the 6 topics

So now you have 6 topics, and at least 3 or 4 needs for each topic

For each topic, look at the list of 3 or 4 needs again - could you write a post about each of those 3 or 4 needs? Or, perhaps a single post that covers 2 or more of those needs?

Even if you can only come up with 4 topics, and 4 needs for each topic, at worse case 4 needs should be able to be turned into 2 decent blog posts (with images, ideally!).

So that makes 4 topics, each with 2 posts = 8 posts minimum.

So, you have regular posts that I mentioned first - comments on changes to the industry, etc.

Then, you have 8 posts focusing on the needs of your visitor...

Remember that calendar you printed out? Cool! - well now grab it, and space those 8 'visitor needs' posts out, 1 per week for 8 weeks.

Next, add 2 news posts per week to the calendar - 1 either side of the 'visitor needs' post.

There you have it! - 3 posts per week planned, for 8 weeks! (2 industry news/commentary ones, and 1 in-depth advice post relating to your visitors need!)

For an extra kick, when writing your 'visitor needs' posts, head over to topsy and try to find subjects relating to your posts that people are talking about on the social channels - should give you more ideas on how to make the post better

Just my thoughts - hope it helps!
