Buying Tweets / Facebook Posts - anyone try it?

Anyone have experience buying tweets / facebook posts from a related niche to your product / service / website?

I notice many of the popular twitter pages that have funny images / memes / cool pictures tweet sites like likes.com / chacha.com - do you think those websites are paying for those tweets?

Wonder how much traffic actually gets pushed?

Any thoughts?

Twitter and Facebook advertising costs? Any inputs? Can a person just tweet affiliate links on twitter or facebook daily with no cost just your time?

To be clear - I am NOT a fan of trying to game the system - I'd rather take the long haul than the short cut every time - but it's difficult see the results these fake fans bring and not be seduced by them (the results - not the fake fans!) and it would be fairly difficult to categorically determine the validity of these fake accounts - they aren't overtly spammy - though they certainly lack some originality when they create names for the accounts - and quite frankly Facebook aren't likely to tackle this issue any time soon. Remember, we can't fight human nature with the argument 'Hey, I might only have a few followers, but one of them is the Pope!' Numbers are a very quick indicator of Credibility and we are manipulated by the power of numbers dozens of times a day and this will not change!

I think there's only one good reason to "game the system" as the previous poster stated, and that's just to seed your list so that it looks like people are already there once you actually do start marketing. For example, would you follow a Twitter account for what you expected to be a huge account, when it turned out there was actually nobody there? Probably not. If you do go there and see something like "Hey wow, this Twitter person has N,NNN followers, so I'll follow to" that's a great reason to seed your list with some paid followers.

One thing is for certain - 90% (maybe more) of the people selling likes and follows are just selling you dummy accounts. Eventually FB and Twitter catches up and kills these accounts so your numbers will dramatically dip on occasion. Just make sure you know the reason why you are buying these accounts.

These likes are just for a bit of fame and I don't think it will help you any other way.. Just social presence. Will look good to visitors who land on your page and see 20,000 followers WOW!!! There is nothing more into it.

Buying tweets is surely something I would not do. However, what about buying facebook posts?
Under this I understand that you hire someone to write posts for your facebook page. That is not something illegal I would say.

Buying them means you're getting bots and fake accounts only. Using those to make it look like your'e an authority is fine if that floats your boat but getting them for real will benefit you more in the long term.
