are twitter ads worthwhile?

I have read a bunch of threads about Facebook ads, but I prefer Twitter for my business model. The advice for Facebook seems to boil down to: 1) pay for impressions--not clicks and 2) direct them to a fanpage--not an external website.

Have you used Twitter ads, why or why not?
What were your results?
Are Twitter ads as useful for promoting a brand?
Any tips?

From what I have read, they are tough for commercial purposes. So, no.

Yeah I have to agree with others. I get little traffic and interaction from Twitter, I mean, hats off to the guys and gals that turn a buck with it. To me, it seems like a great way to keep your brand awareness us. Facebook does do a lot more for me compared to twitter. I know that's not the answer you wanted, but I wanted to share that I have not heard great things about Twitter ads.

Twitter can be good if the follow list is good. I have never tried twitter ads myself. Looking forward to read someone in this thread who has done so..

All comments welcome, that's why I started the thread.

@Ferma231 Mainly I want to bring people to my profile page and build awareness for my site and offers with the tweets. By "brand" I meant the profile, Websiite, YT, etc.

@icemonkey9 I want to hear what everyone has to say, good, bad and other.

@hbhanot Yeah, hopefully somebody shows up who has had success. I assume they must work for somebody or else Twitter would have changed their AD format/offerings/features to make them work.

I’d explain it to you, but your brain would explode.

Twitter sent me a couple $100 ad coupons. I had horrible results with it, and the CPC was insanely high. The thing is, the 'click' isn't a click on your link in the tweet, its people just clicking on your actual tweet. So we used up our $100 coupon, and got something like 90 clicks and 2 visits.

Ok- so as I understand you are paying for clicks to your Ad - not to your site? Now there's a problem.....

I saw some $100 credits too, and that took me from "I wonder if Twitter ads work?" to "I should post and see what other Warriors think."

96 clicks isn't worth the time to set up a campaign. So if that's what can be expected, I'll try other things. Not that I am easily deterred, just that they don't seem to be made for a guerilla AMer.
