Who knows why FB banned my ad?

I've been marketing locally towards three European countries for a short while, before I decided to get my feet wet by dipping my toes in the US pool. I've been working with FB ads exclusively.

I've gone a couple of rounds with a few ad campaigns before, but this is of course a newbie talking: I've run about 20-30 campaigns so far.

Now, I have picked an offer: Garcinia Cambogia.

I created a couple of ads, which for some reason I cannot even preview (I haven't experienced that before).

Headers are:
Drop pounds naturally:
Free trial bottle:

Just one image:

Body texts are:
Order your free trial bottle of all natural Garcinia Cambogia today. Only $4.95 shipping!
Burn fat and drop pounds using all natural Garcinia Cambogia today. Only $4.95 shipping!
Use natural HCA to block fat storage with Garcinia Cambogia extract. Only $4.95 shipping!

Since I'm based outside the US, the url I enter into the FB ads are not working for me - I get redirected to a survey. But, the ad is exclusively targeted at United States.

The rejection email from FB was:

which is kind of cryptic.

Can anyone offer any insight as to what's wrong with that ad? Or is it the landingpage? I see FB are pretty strict with subscription services, but I have had success with this before. Perhaps it's just the landing page not being up to Facebook's ad guidelines?

    Hi.. Sorry to hear you that your ads were no longer allowed on facebook ads. Well, if you followed their advertising guidelines properly then, you are safe.

    I want to ask you a question. Did you direct your ads to your affiliate site or your business site? If so, then you violated their guidelines and also, you stated a price lists in your ad content, which is against their guidelines..

    You can read this one of their guidelines as well. "Ads must not promote the sale of prescription pharmaceuticals. Ads for online pharmacies are prohibited except that ads for certified pharmacies may be permitted with prior approval from Facebook."

    Hope this helps!

      Hi Tyree, thanks for taking the time.

      The url I give Facebook goes to the affiliate offer url which redirects to the merchant's own landing page. (I haven't had time to set up my own tracking server or create my own landing pages yet). This has always worked for me in my other campaigns on Facebook.

      The ad is not for prescription pharmaceuticals - the product is 100% natural, legal to sell and market and does not require a prescription.

      When I look through their Ad guidelines, here's a few things I noticed

      IV H i: Ad text must clearly and conspicuously disclose the recurring billing component (e.g. "subscription required").

      H ii. The landing page must:
      a. display the price and billing interval wherever the user is prompted to enter personally identifiable information;
      b. include an unchecked opt-in checkbox; and
      c. include language informing users how to cancel their subscription or membership.

      This I cannot see is relevant to the offer in question:

      IV F ii. Ads that promote dietary and herbal supplements are generally permitted, provided they do not promote products containing anabolic steroids, chitosan, comfrey, dehydroepiandrosterne, ephedra, human growth hormones, melatonin, and any additional products deemed unsafe or questionable by Facebook in its sole discretion.

      Could this last bit regarding physical health be an issue?
      III B. Attribution
      Ad text may not assert or imply, directly or indirectly, within the ad content or by targeting, a user's personal characteristics within the following categories:
      i. race or ethnic origin;
      ii. religion or philosophical belief;
      iii. age;
      iv. sexual orientation or sexual life;
      v. gender identity;
      vi. disability or medical condition (including physical or mental health);

    Maybe your ad was misunderstood by their staff, so you should be asking for " prior approval from Facebook".

      As I was researching this more, I found at that the error I am getting when FB tries to preview my ad (#2606) was a pointer at the problem. The URL in my ads are listed by MaxBounty and seems to be banned by Facebook for some reason. When I enter a new URL, the ad previews without any problems.

      It seems that I cannot direct link to the offer on Facebook, beacuse of the domain being blacklisted. I will set up Prosper202 and check with my AM how I can link to the offer without going through the original link. Will report on any progress made

    My friend Facebook wants you to build a business and not a get rich quick scheme! I would ban you myself -- No Question Asked -- for doing such a silly thing. Anyway you pay the hard way.

    No hard feelings. I was banned on Google the first moment I advertised with them back in 2007. Why? I didn't buy any book on google adwords to know how to set up campaigns.

  • Facebook has really been cracking down on CPA ad accounts, especially for Nutra offers. Ruck has an interesting post on IMGrind you should check out: Facebook Massively Wiping Cloaked CPA Ad Accounts

    Personally, I love Garcinia Cambogia offers - we work with a lot of companies who do these trial offers and there's a TON of money to be made. Facebook just doesn't want any part of it.

    I think the best way is to get in touch with yourself.
    This will help a lot.
    My ads were disapproved while ago and then I contacted them.
    The good thing was I was explained exactly on why my Ads were not approved.
    Now I keep all those tricks in my mind before creating one.
    I strongly suggest you to contact them directly. It will help you learn more.

    I am at a loss here: Are you really saying that
    A) you will get banned for using prosper202 with facebook ads?
    B) You cannot in any way run CPA offers on Facebook?
    If this was the case why on earth isn't this mentioned in the Ads Guidelines?

    Luckily I have a LinkedIn connection working on the local Facebook marketing team although I dont know him that well. I could try to bother him about it..
