I've started playing with fan pages, i've build around 5 now, updating them with content daily, some have over 500 likes and growing slowly....My question would be toward monetizing them. What's the better practice?

option #1 - I keep building my page and getting more fans/likes/shares, then when i have over 1-2k fans, i start addind my affiliate links in new posts afterwards.

option #2 - Right from the start, while building & growing the page, i should already be promoting affiliate offers or products.

I have small "fears" with both options...for #1, i feel like they might get surprised and bothered that i eventually start promoting stuff related to the page...for #2, they could see it as spammy and bothering therefore not want to like or share?

I've read multiple threads trying to sort out how to do it, but i'm getting a bit confused and overwhelmed about it all lol

All help would be welcomed!

tks

You can use socialmediabar.com to cloak your affiliate links for FB page.

Affiliate links arent bad if you dont shove them in people's face. I read blogs that are open about affiliate links (like they post a link and say they earn a few pennies if you buy from it) and it not bother me. problem with affiliate links is only when they take over the page and make hard to find what you need/want to read. If you put google ad between each paragraph you will lose users. if you put in one or two places, or use affiliate links (such as for amazon), then it isn't intrusive but also let you promote a bit.

Generally they say it's best to wait until you have about 1,500 fans before you start to promote affiliate offers.

Make sure you contiue to provide interesting, useful or funny stuff in between your promotions.

my "fear" about fanpages, pinterest accounts, twitter accounts and all kind of social media stuff is that they change the rules from one day to the other.
for example: i have a friend who has a pinterest account with 600,000 followers which is awesome and she was making decent money from that BUT then last month pinterest changed its rules as well as some other things and her sales went down immediately.
you don't have a business if you depend on someone else. so best way usually is to set up your own site with your own content and collect email subscribers instead of fans on facebook - you never know what they do next.
i know you didn't ask for that but i thought i mention the experience my friend made and it confirms me that it is always better to invest your time in your site rather than shortcuts that don't pay off in the end.
