Pinterest is an image based social media site - most of the users are women who like to look at visually appealing things.

There's lots of home decor, food and recipes, fashion and beauty and some internet meme type of posts.

If you're in any of the above niches I reckon it'll be great but not so much if your products aren't so good to look at!

If you go to Google and Wikipedia you'll find out what you're looking for.

Pinterest, is a great place to find information about almost everything... And by the way it's not only for women ;-) You can create a board , then pin a url that has an image or information that interests you on that board. So next time you want to find this information you don't have to search around in the internet to find it, you have it there on your board!But the best part is that everyone that uses pinterest can find your board and use what you have pinned there too! Pinterest is great for building boards of like-content (like mini websites) and cultivating followers of like-minded people that become viewers and readers of your boards and its pins (pins are like posts). You can pin content / pages to your board from your websites, link wheels, Squeeze pages, articles, etc., which in turn can be viewed by the people following your board. Furthermore these people can like and share the content on Pinterest, re-pinning it to their boards for their viewers to see. Like Facebook its a great spot for viral images that people can't help but share or propagate through their network.

Pinterest is also a source of inspiration because people pin all kinds of content with an image. I follow others and when I login I see their pins, some of which, are inspiring. You are also able to post descriptions with your content plus more!

Pinterest is not just a source to market to women, many people from this forum use Pinterest and most of my boards have a diverse following of like-minded people with different backgrounds.
