Using related FB pages to build traffic and likes

So i'm about 30 days into starting my first blog and am looking into some more traffic sources other than search engines.(since i seem to suck at SEO right now) Ive been getting decent traffic from posting LIMITED links in related facebook groups to my niche (about 3-4 a day, all new content) other social networking.

Just sent my 1st message to an admin of a page (that probably has a lot of cross-over demographics to my page but definitely not the same niche) asking if they'd be interested in giving us a shout out on their page to help build my page likes and blog traffic.... Using a FB contest and a link on the page and blog to sweeten the deal.

anyone else had success doing this? dont want to put a lot of time into this tactic if its not going to be effective.

  • Rick,

I’m not really clear what is in it for the other page admin. Do you have a lot of traffic on your blog already to entice them? I would think this could work as long as it was worthwhile for the other party. Perhaps them getting a backlink might be good. I would try reaching out to multiple page admins to try and increase your chances of one of them saying yes.

You could also try FB PPC to get some more traffic to your blog.

yeah, that's really the hurdle....the only thing I could think of was maybe running a contest with some physical prizes, which maybe some admins would be interested in promoting just as good content for their fans...lol or just out of kindness ....and maybe a backlink or a public "thank you" type of post on the fanpage.

The blog is still pretty young so im really fighting for all the traffic I can right now. I dont know if its going to take time for google to throw me more traffic or what but id say 80% of my traffic comes from facebook....mainly just from me manually posting links to my daily content on related-niche groups who dont seem to mind (and tend to actually generate discussion for them.)

I figure if thats where the bulk of my traffic is coming from I should try to get as much from there as possible right now until I figure out my SEO issues, but I really dont want to exceed 3-4 links a day at these groups since that's pretty spammy so i'm trying to build the page up with enough likes to generate most of my FB traffic from there instead of these groups.

If anyone has some ideas im all ears.

Edit: ...not really interested in paying for traffic quite yet.

    thanks!
