Social Media Impact

I'm wondering if the group can shed some light on the impact of social media links on SEO. I typically create a Facebook page and Twitter account when I start a niche site. However, I don't really know if this is helping with search engines. Obviously, I consider the social media sites critical to my strategy and will continue to use them. I was just curious if anyone knew the weight that Google placed on those properties.

    Social media can be useful for getting people to your website. It also gives you backlinks to your site. Facebook and Twitter as well as some others are high PR sites, which makes them quality backlinks.

    The social signals (people who share and like your content) also give you extra score for your SEO. And it's expected that social signals will become even more important in the future.

    So yeah, try to build up your audience in social media networks. The social interaction will give you backlinks and social signals in addition to more traffic, I don't see any reason not to do this.
