Use of hashtag in Facebook and twitter?

I just use the # tag before searching the topic, people or anything else but what is benefit for using this. Thanks in advance for brief detail.
#facebook #hashtag #twitter
  • When you use a hashtag, it is kind of like pointing out your keyword... So if anyone searches for the same hashtag then they would find your tweet or Facebook post as well. This is good for trending hashtags to get your name out in front of a lot of people and hopefully get clickthroughs to your main profile!

Hashtagging makes it more effective to target people. It also widens your reach because using hashtags will allow you to distribute your content outside your Facebook connections. People who are not your friends in Facebook, not following you, or liked your page will still see your posts if they search for that particular key word or phrase. It also promotes clear and productive conversations with others.

Hashtags make it so your posts are easily findable. There are trends that are searched by millions that you can jump in on as well. Check out our blog for a more in depth description on the benefits of hashtags in your social media marketing strategy.

Google Plus also has this feature. Any time someone searches on the hash tagged topic your content will be included in the results

If you use the hashtag then when people are looking for something they will see your post which will hopefully have a link to your site or affiliate link you are promoting along with something to make them want to click it.

Point of Interest. To get something trending - if a certain number of people are tweeting about it you can simply type in the hashtag or if it is that popular it will be listed in the sidebar.

Facebook doesn't support tags. G+ and Twitter do. Those hashTAGs are basically just tags starting with an hash (#)
