Facebook Ads and MLM

Has anyone ever had any success advertising a multi level marketing business through facebook ads and such? My 'mentor' advised me to build a list first by offering an ebook offer, and then release the offer to my list. Is this the best course of action? Would advertising just the mlm opportunity through facebook ads not work as well?

(Also I was wondering if there are any tutorials in here about facebook ads and optimizing them to lower CPC etc)

Global, My family friends have had tremendous success with it and I was looking to follow in their footsteps with an approach that I don't believe has been seen in the business very much. They push traditional in-person confrontation, but I believe I can reach a much broader audience this way. Do you care to assist me at all - whether via reply, personal message, or facebook message?

    Facebook ads will definitely work if you just know the right course to take. Building a list is also effective. If you have the enough time, why don't you try both and see what works for you more? With Facebook ads, the best way to see what's effective is to do some split testing.

    I've been doing facebook ads as well as list building. I have actually been doing some split testing, but I either spend WAY too much or not enough - you know? I can't find the happy medium, and I think it's just because my ads are ineffective and inadequate..
