IS anyone truly making money marketing a "Social Media Package" to small or medium size business's?

The key for me in the past has been in proving the method through data, which multi-channel funnels (and social measurement elements) in analytics can help you with. If you can provide an edge and even more advanced reporting, you'll set yourself apart from the majority of service based companies out there.

At the same time you clearly have to deliver results, but understanding that reach and determining that value will not only help you sell the service, but delivery will become a true investment for the client.

    Hope this helps!

  • Good question Dean,

In my experience, I’ve worked with a lot of agencies that offer social media marketing services and the ones that are most successful are the ones that aren’t offering “packaged” services. In my opinion that is the right way to do it because (just like other forms of marketing), there really isn’t a one size fits all approach. Marketing through social media should have a holistic and client based approach. Services should be tailored to the client and what their goals are for their business.

I’m sure there are people that sell a pre-packaged service but I would guess that they aren’t as successful as they could be if they had a different approach.

    Best,

    Shawn

I've actually been involved in contracting the work through resellers, and I can tell you that people sell packages and make money because I see all the accounts they sell. The most successful ones I've seen are web development/seo sales firms that sell the packages as add-ons to their other offerings and then contract them out. I've seen companies paying $500 or more per month to get work from outsourced people who basically just go into scheduling tools and type out pretty mindless stuff, but I've also been involved in much higher quality. You can make money selling, doing it, or both.

ETA: I'm not saying to only do cookie-cutter packages, either. That's something I dislike, and I mostly make my money by NOT doing that.
