How to legitimately get followers on Twitter/Pinterest?

Let's say you have a site that you reckon would be of some value to people. You've set up your social accounts (fb, twitter, pinterest) and populated them with content (and continue to update them)

What is the best way to get people to follow your twitter/pinterest posts, when first launching?

I actually don't use any of these services personally, so I am not too aware of how users engage/follow people. I've heard for Facebook, people often won't like stuff with few likes (at least younger folks), but after you reach a certain number of likes (say 1k+) people are more likely to like it, if it seems 'popular.'

Is it the same with twitter/pin?

If so, what is the best way to get people to follow you? Is it a follow for follow scenario, where you go out and follow a bunch of people and hope they follow you and find what you post interesting and re-pin/tweet it?

Any insight would be appreciated!

This is scraping, no one will respond to these because they're feeling like they're being bothered

Great informational, emotional or interesting content and people will share nevermind if on fb or whereever... they will do it and before they think about it, it´s already done and shared. That´s the only real way all this is working.

every social network is different from the other and has it own trends, there are 2 ways to increase your followers of social account..
One way is within social network, Following/unfollowing, repin, liking..
In this way you can get some followers but in most cases they are not very much active

The other method is to get your website fans to follow you on social accounts which works like charm, just need to provide value, share more often, constant updates are needed across all networks..

In both cases you need to read specific guides for each social network, then only you can excel in them

      Thanks for the replies.

      What does that mean^?

As far as the rest of the replies; I guess it seems like a chicken and egg thing to me. If I am posting interesting content, to no one, how will people share it? I completely agree that if people find it valuable they will share it on their own accord, but they can't share something they are unaware of, ya know?

It sounds like the responses are saying, "just let them find it, then if they see it as valuable, they will share it." I am correctly understanding it?

What happens if your website doesn't have any fans, and the site was launched on a week prior or so?

I guess what I am asking is; after initial launch how do you garner followers that are interested in your content? Especially when you have close to no one visiting your site, social profiles, how do you build it all up?

When getting started, the best way to find new followers is to search for keywords relating to what you've created. For example, I gained a new follower tonight simply by mentioning "web design" in a tweet — all while not even trying.
