Are facebook pages replacing business websites?

I see all over the TV and on billboards facebook URL's instead of the company website. These are big brands doing this in some cases. Does the networking facebook offers outweigh the customization of a business homepage?

no and its not even close. FB has bad conversation rates compared to websites. Plus FB could pull the plug at moments notice thus shutting down your entire business. I would say FB should be no more than 20% of your marketing efforts.

Still website is very important in a business, FB page only stands for promotion tool or a place where you can post your business and easily interact with your prospect customers.

Just had this conversation with my husband today. It's 2013, any business that does not have a website is guaranteed to be a business that is a mess(I personally will not do business with a business that doesn't have a website & I used to solicit them & build sites for them & they were too ignorant to deal with. They were a headache) . Social media drives free traffic to your website. From your website, customers take a specific action that you lay out for them. Whether it be to call you, buy online or come into your brick and mortar store. Facebook is a source of free traffic......that's it. If used in that capacity it can be a gold mine. Without a website to drive your facebook fan to...don't even waste your time creating a facebook page then. In this day and age you HAVE TO have a website.

having your own website is as important as having a facebook page for your business. Anyone who goes to the site and sees that you have a FB page will search for FB users oppinions, photos you post and status updates and that gives them confidence. Everyone has a FB account nowadays, it's awkward not to have one

Website is more important than Face Book. You have more control on your website than Face Book.
Face Book pages can be a support for website but not a replacement of a website.

Facebook pages are a way to promote a business website. You can promote a website on FB fan page for making it popular, but will you make a website to promote your Facebook fan page? No, so website is always needed.

No. FB or other social networking sites can only help advertise and promote business and/or website yet, business sites are still important.

It's a complementary page/profile, that can do business on its own, but more as a component in the overall marketing rather than a replacement.

Facebook pages are really helpful to promote your business. Other way is Facebook ads and it will cost businesses. I would say yes. Business websites are replaced by websites because of larger audience and users on facebook. Business can promote and contact directly to the customers so as customers can do. People don't have to log in or visit business sites everyday. Whereas, they do log in in facebook almost everyday. Business are using facebook traffic for their websites, products and services with the help of website links.

Absolutely not. Facebook and other social outlets are a supplement. Websites and email have far better conversion rates than social media probably ever will for most industries.

Websites are at their place and Facebook pages are at their place. Website is must if you want your business to grow online. Facebook pages reflect your popularity online...
