Facebook Likes Fan Page - What's Your Thought

Hey guys. I attended a work seminar from a guy who talked about using Facebook to promote your business. He suggested just using your normal wall instead of having a Business Fan Page. I kind of agree. I mean you see a ton of fan pages with 1000's of likes, but those people never return to the fan page. They just like it and that's it. But people who become your friend actually see your personal page more often. What's your thoughts on this?

You can only have 5000 personal friends. If your business is big you need a fan page to build a bigger community and add some social proof to your brand.

So you attended a seminar where the speaker told you that you should market in Facebook by breaking Facebooks TOS huh .. sounds like a 'fantastic' idea to me .. NOT.

It sounds like a good ideas and tons of people do it. But Facebook users usually don't care what you half to say about your business. (offers) Think that your going to spam them or something if they add you as a friend. Should just make a fanpage and post things that people will want to like and comment on.

Get targeted likes only for best results. For targeted likes post regular targeted content at your fan page and share that post on targeted fan pages also.... it is the best way to get targeted traffic..otherwise people only likes and don't come again at your fan page...

Regularity is the best method for best results for your fan page..
    with regards...

I have both a Fan Page and a Profile Page on Facebook. My observation is kind of similar to what you are saying in your post, most people visit your profile often than your fan page so my suggestion would be to add friends that you think may genuinely like your page so that they can be your possible clients in the future...

I combine the use of my personal FB and the the Fanpage. In this Way I can reach more targeted Fans and convert them to firend then to clients . clients like both.
They like personal FB, because this the way they can get to know you personally and this gives them the feeling of being your friend.
Client are highly impressed, if there is a Fan Pages for the specific Product or srevices. Professinaly active Fan Pages are always liked very much. You just need to engage them.

You should promote your business on a personal profile and on a fan page!

Below are the pro's and cons of both...

    Personal Profiles.
A personal profile can give you the 'personal touch' you might want to give prospects.
Consumers often like a personal experience/interface.
Also, it shows that you have an interest and/or passion for what you do, boosting your credibility.
If you want to make anything a success, you need to be involved on all levels, for example professional, personal, etc. It needs to become part of your life, part of your being. You own it!

On the other hand, personal profiles limit you to 5,000 friends. Also they have rather strict guidelines in relation to promoting products/services, but you can get away with a few posts a month relating to your business. (Just keep it informative and don't spam others.) As this is a personal profile, your audience (friends list) will not be accurately targeted to your niche specifics, you may still receive a few conversions from friends.

    Fan/Like Pages
These pages are truly awesome to work with, they are niche specific and you can have thousands of people following you. You can drive traffic to your fan page from your website and vice versa. Once somebody "Likes" your page, they receive updates in their news feeds whenever you post anything to the page. You can also link these pages to your website and business location. Facebook allows you to build iframe tabs in which you can personalize the aesthetics of your pages/tabs, and you can also insert opt-in forms. Fan pages allow you to see your fan pages statistics. (Insights) This includes likes, reach, engaged users, virality of your posts and more so that you can see what works and design your content around it.

Just always stay within Facebook's guidelines.

    Hope this post was helpful.
