How to monetize FB community?

Hi fellow warriors,

I have 2 communities (Pages) on Facebook: 1 for dogs (1.250 fans) and 1 for cats (885 fans). Both groups are very interactive: I get a lot of likes on images, I post challenges for best captions etc.

The one thing I haven't been able to do is monetize it yet.

Here's what I've tried:
- Posting affiliate links to toys for cats/dogs
- Posting affiliate links to insurances for pets
- Posting affiliate links to (e)Books and information products

What would be the best way to monetize such a community? I really believe it's possible, but I don't know how yet and I would really appreciate your input .

Best,
Michael

Pretty cool ideas in this thread. Learned more on how to monetize using a community.

I suggest you go and look up Don Wilson and look at all his case study videos.
Any best link to Don Wilson's case studies?

There is a Social Media Marketing Forum here, so you may want to check it for some ideas what to do with your pages: www.warriorforum.com/social-media-marketing-forum.

    Seeing your pages would help.

Knowing demographics and insights would help too.

How long and how often were you posting any of those and what were the results?

Write a blog as well and post a link to your blog. There they can read your articles about your niche and you can ask them at the end to click a link.

You might have poor engagement with your follower on FB. Make sure you ask then to comment and like things. Don't just post links.

Thanks, but my community is in Dutch, so all English products are a no-go.

My pages are in Dutch, so it's going to be difficult for you to understand.

Thanks. I've used FB ads to come this far. I pay about $0.15-$0.25 per like. Not sure if that's a lot. My budget is extremely limited at the moment so not a lot of options there.

My posts are always engaging, like I said in the beginning. On some posts I get 50-100 Likes, and that's once every 2-3 days, so the interaction is certainly there.
Affiliate posts are always done in a playful way, not hard-selling anything. I don't think that's right.

Numbers are always the same, no matter of the language

However, at this point you should focus on getting some more fans. Since your budget is limited and you have a starting crowd, the best way is to post interesting and shareable things regularly. Regularly means more often than every few days.

I agree with Will, you still need to grow your page at least with 20k followers. Once you reach that, then you can start monetizing it. I suggest promoting physical products related to your niche. I believe it's better you make a private deal from a company and not from Clickbank. Best of luck!

I personally do not wait before monetizing.

I found by doing this, you are conditioning your followers into not buying from you.

If you are providing value to your page then no matter how big it is you should be monetizing it.

There are so many ways to monetize a fan page, CPA, opt in, amazon products, clickbank, physical etc..

      Good luck!

One thing that I don't see anyone else suggesting is mixxter. All you have to do is set it up to post images from their website and you get paid for it. Please go through my referral link if you don't mind so I can get credit....... Mixxter | All the posts

You might try posting full page length reviews on products from an affiliate site and then linking directly to that product, with your affiliate link. Simply making a short paragraph comment and posting an affiliate link won't be enough to convince most people to buy. You really have to presell the reader on why they should take time to click through your link. Thebetter job you do with the presell, the more likely that person is to click through and actually buy what is being offered on the next page.
