Can you give me competition advice

I am a coach and I want to give away 5 free sessions to 10 people to mark the milestone that is my 50th birthday

I am looking for suggestions on the best way to do this.

ie I could ask everyone to share a photo of themselves doing something that is related to self care as this is linked to self esteem which is my niche.

too complicated ? What would you advise

Your not very specific there. You want to give away something. In what venue? In your website? On Facebook? To your twitter followers? To your email list?

I mostly work via skype so I am giving away 5 life coaching sessions to 10 people !

I want to promote it on facebook as I have 4k fans there. Sorry I was rushing a bit when I wrote this. Hope that is clearer. I will probably write the page on my blog and then share the link on facebook as I believe hosting competitons needs to come from a source other than fb.

FB just changed their rules and now you can post contests on your page and ask for likes, comments, etc. I'm surprised no one else seems to know this.

How to do a competition of 5 giveaways to 10 people? First I think you're being too generous. Secondly, the real money's going to be what you can generate in "second price" - it will be the reason you contact *every one else who entered but didn't win* with an offer that brings them in.

What should the entry requirements be? Make sure somewhere you state this is for "qualified" entries only. Then you can determine who makes the cut. Absolutely you want to look for people not seeking to pile up freebies but people who would use your services. So, part of the qualification process needs to be an assessment.

Lots of people know this its just that its not a very valuable change. Basically Facebook just changed there rules that lets you put a contest as a post and ask people to like you to enter. So now you get to give something away to people so you can get likes. Hmm .. give something away so I can get fans that I then have to pay to 'promote a post to' in order to be sure I can reach.. umm Ill pass on that thank you.

I take your point but I am making a really good living as a coach from the fans I have made on facebook. The cost of advertising there is tiny in comparison to offline advertising which brings nothing in return... tried it a few times.

How do you personally know that "lots of people" know this? I'm sure they do but I haven't seen anyone mention it.

So yes FB changed its rules because before you couldn't make a post about contests and everything had to be done through a third party app and no way could you involve readers by encouraging comments or build LIKES in any manner involved with the contest. So hands were tied in those respects.

Maybe that's simply not valuable to you but it sure sounds like there are more options to someone like the OP and others to do things.

Yeah I hear you. Just like it cost Mrs. Fields to advertise herself and give away all those cookies, poor thing. Hope she's doing ok.

@ carolf: It's the entrepreneur who's willing to do what others won't, use money smartly as a tool not just look for the cheap way out, and capitalize on these opportunities that give themselves more chances to make it.

I've been running a contest where I'm giving away my minimum service - not the entire store - and so far I've garnered about 100 new likes of highly targeted, area individuals obviously who want a service like mine. And the nature of my service is something that most of them WILL use and soon.

Because I've done promos similar to this before I know historically I can convert 15 to 40 per cent of them.

One will win. From the other qualified entries, they don't know it yet, but they're going to win a chance for a second prize.

That second prize should average me a contract worth $4000 each.

The rest will stay on my email drip sequence they're getting and that'll bring in a few during the next year.

I can help you build something that would let people submit images from their Instagram feed as an entry method into a competition.
