My First Youtube Video - Critics Welcome

Hey guys! I finally got my Green Screen Equipment in and I an pretty excited because I just published my first video using it. Now, I wanted to see if you guys would give me some insight regarding how you think I did for my first video. Remember, I am new at this and would like some feedback which will help me improve my video.

The video on Youtube can be viewed here -
video #2 after WF feedback!

I know I talked too much in the video and will make sure to have more Vines come the next one, and I think I need to do better job on the lighting, so besides the talking what do you guys think, and how could I make this video more interesting?

Thanks for your feedback!
John King

Thought that the first part of the video the intro was pretty neat. You seem liked you forced the rest of the video though like were trying too hard. I don't think that you talked too much was pretty relevant. I will send you a link to some of my videos and tell me what you think. Can tell you haven't done a lot and much of what I commented on above will be fixed with some more time and ability.

A voice coach is a great investment so is a body language coach. If you can't afford either then Id go with a program or two or check out local college. Youtube also is a great resouce on above subjects. At the college Can find decent talent there for 10-20 per hour. Post some more videos! And keep on keepin on!

    I like the whole idea..

Tip #1: Add More Structure to it.. make segments or a top 5 or top 10 or something..
Tip #2: Utilize your greenscreen and maybe add a paused screenshot of the video you're talking about in the background (with a number or segment name)
Tip #3 Get a Lapel Microphone so you can get better audio quality.

Other than that.. keep it up!

Awesome first video! But I think people are more interested in the vines than you talking. I'd say 5 seconds in between each is already plenty.

I think with some more structure it could seem a lot more natural, and he could leave it as is with the amount of talking he does, some people like that.

Same here, .. I think a little structure to the video could make the body language and voice seem more natural and easier to record, by adding the structure it also makes it easier for recording because you don't have to do it all in one take, you can record each segment separately when you plan it out and it makes it much easier for editing too.

  • Love the tone and idea of the video. Kinda like Tosh.0.

The biggest issue I see is with diction and speaking clearly. I'm a Dialect and Accent Reduction Coach here in Los Angeles.. I can definitely help you speak clearer and articulate more. PM me if you're interested.

Otherwise, as was suggested before, search thru YouTube. Cleaning up your speech will help you become a more engaging and easy to understand speaker.

    Great work with the video!

I absolutely believe that structure is important, however confidence can make up for what structure lacks or is missing. Its same with structure though sometimes its good to have an outline vs. script because then you have the additional worry of having to memorize every word.

Outline /structure vs. having to have all structure. People pay more attention to your body language and tonality than if you got it right. Messing up every once in a while shows you are human and allows you to feel free. Feeling comfortable allows you to recover from those incidents easily without a hitch.

I almost always do 1 take videos. In my field there aren't multiple takes available. However can always just find your own style the right mix of perfection and looseness. Its more about what you want to be and to who than what you do and how you do it.

You are an artist and a talent define what you are. Nice to know can always change. Its great to learn grow and evolve. Great luck and post more videos in a year love to see the contrast between them and this!

Another thing I forgot is learn to use audacity and if you speed it up x 1.1 or something can make it seem liek you have more energy without expending it! Keep us informed of your progress. Always excited to see people learn grow and evolve!

I never thought about speeding it up, thats an interesting idea. However, logically thinking, wouldn't that mess up the audio?

Great idea. Nice lightning and camera setup. What software are you using, Sony Vegas?

I am missing segments. Like to see a video that shows like a page, with headlines.

            Hey Andre

The first vid is still going round and round........

but the second one loaded right away. So, what's the software again?

And by the way ---- great lighting technique.

    Good job these are great.

I watched the first video and thought it was good and that you had nice and powerful engagement in your voice and interacting with the audience. It was longer than I would actually want to watch though.

After scrolling down, I saw that you did another movie. This one was much better. Right the point and gave people what they wanted to see... Top 20 Vine Videos.

This niche is massive right now. Keep it up and you will dominate!

Thanks man! Yeah a lot of friends here locally said the idea was great, but less talking haha. So therefore, the second video I wanted to really focus hard on getting the 20 out and less visiting Thanks for the feedback!
