    Hi socialapps

Your question is very general. The best social network for what? Each has its positives and negatives

As for the best for SEO, I've heard Google rewards your search engine position if you have a Google+ page for your website

Agreed. Every platform has its benefits. For instance, Twitter is outtanding for targeting potential customers and Facebook is ideal for stabilizing the brand relationship with those customers.

I have not a lot of experience with Social bookmarking for SEO, but from what I have read and what I think is that it would be more more powerful for SEO to use all of these social networking websites than just one or two. You can promote all of them at the same time so your following on those networks will increase dramatically faster than just promoting to one of those networks.

All of them are really great depending on what niche you are in and what your goals are. The common mistake people make is they try to do social media marketing in these sites but they fail to determine how these sites can help them.

In today's competitive online world, you can't simply say, which one of these social networks is best. You need to use all social networks, not just Facebook. You must establish a presence on all social networks and be active to corner the market in your niche. Your closest competitor is hoping you will say, Facebook is more important than Twitter or Pinterest. That way they can get the leading edge over your site.

Your question is very general I'd say. It depends mainly on the Niche where you're in. "Long term Social Media Strategy" - and that's what is useful. Some marketers make the mistake of keeping short term goals as their end result of social media strategy, which in most cases, won't work. Results from social media usually takes a lot of time. Here's how you should do it.
As you know, there are a lot of social media platforms like facebook, Google+, twitter, pinterest etc.

      1. Identify the ones that suit your niche.
      2. Post regularly and try to create a fan base.
      3. Use hashtags to make your posts discoverable
      4. Be in touch with your clients
      5. Be personal in your approach
      6. Keep long term relationship in your mind.

These are a few things. And adding to the advantage of bringing highly targeted traffic, social media also gives the necessary brand awareness..

Each social site is viable depending on a market you're targeting. From what I've learned when I managed my client's social media accounts, here's what I have observed:

Google+ : recommended for techies, demographics are generally men.
Pinterest : members are mostly women aged 20-40 years old, if you have plenty of interesting images that caters to women's interest (shoes, shopping, clothes, food, housekeeping, etc.) this is a good platform to start with.
Facebook : good for customer engagement, use eye-catching titles and pictures to stand out in Newsfeeds.
Twitter: This is good place to curate some good contents and build links to your blog posts or products. It's easier to get more followers in Twitter than in Facebook, in my case.
Tumblr: this is good if your market is geared towards teens or young adult.

Each one has its advantages over the other and can't tell which one is better because it depends on what it's for. Here's how I view things:

Facebook: After your own website, Facebook is the next thing consumers search for. It sort of acts as a validation that you're still relevant. It's a good way to keep your customers engaged, to announce your newest offerings and having a promo. Photos, I think, are very important. Photos pop out in the newsfeed and are easily shared. Although I'm not a fan of "pay so all your fans can see your post" thing, I'd say if you don't have a lot of time and resources, focus on Facebook first.

Twitter: Twitter, for me, is where consumers go to read up on the latest news about anything under the sun. Consumers tweet you when they want to learn something about your product NOW. So if you're not online most of the time, skip it. Also, unlike Facebook where customers' negative posts can be hidden or deleted, when someone posts a negative thing about your business on Twitter, anyone can read it and you can't do anything about it. Twitter's also great if you want to be proactive and reach out to your customers.

Google +: Just started using Google+ and did so mainly because it helps your ranking. Right now what I can get from it is you get a really focused following.

Pinterest: Great for products! And services that are visual in nature.

    Tumblr: Skip it.

Linkedin: If you're looking to expand your team, make one. If not, you can do it later.

Research can do wonders. Determine your target market and figure out their social media habits like what social media site they use the most, do they use their mobile, what kind of content appeals to them, what time they are online etc. Start from there.

Each social site has its own unique use - you need to find which one works best for you. Google+, pinterest and Facebook are great for visual advertising where as Twitter is a constant flow of content which sometimes gets lost on peoples timeline. I find Google+ very effective, posting my content in related communities. The interaction I get from doing this is greater than that of a post on Twitter. Pinterest to me seems to be full of images of fashion and travel.

They are all good.. But if you can combine it the right way, you'll be the best..
I use Pinterest more than FB and Twitter right now, since it can gain more US people (i'm in Indonesia).. And in Pinterest you can see all the post in Timeline from all over the world.. Not just from your friends..

It depends on product/sevices you offer and content you have. Facebook, Google Plus and Twitter is content rather, Pinterest photos. If you have in your offer really great photos (for example you have online clothing store) go for Pinterest. Our first campaign let our customer's site reached the top of Google only with Pinterest.

Also cross promotion between all four sites is ideal as you will get a strictly Facebook only audience to jump to Google+ for discounts/coupons they would not ordinarily see.

G+ only helps with SEO if users of G+ are logged into it (today). There is a benefit for early indexing for links posted there though

Facebook is good for more engagement with users but your market needs to be on it, its cheap and easy to use, best of all, it does drive some nice traffic.

Twitter is great, easy to use. Good for conversations and driving traffic to your urls, need to repeat messaging fairly often as they don't last long...

Pinterest is a great source of traffic. Images are easy to understand by everyone, people just want to click things they like especially when niche related.

Ideally you want to focus on one 1st, get it running, automate where possible, then expand to other social networks once you have it running smoothly.

      Hope that helps!

All the social sites (Facebook, Twitter, G+ and Pinterest) are helpful for deriving traffic. All these social sites have their different criteria, like: Pinterest allow link on images, Twitter has limit of 140 characters, Facebook has limit of 5k friends and G+ page need verification for better results.

It's you, who'll decide which social network is good for you.

If you ask me, each of the website you mentioned have different characteristics from each other. They have different audiences and people use each of them for different purposes.

You can try all of it if you can! You can attack the audience with different contents that belong to different niches. That should work for your plan.

    Good luck, Nate.
