100 followers in 4 hours

I have gained a little over 100 followers in 4 hours on Pinterest by just being active on the site When I first started my Pinterest page I followed a ton of people, and received 3,000 or so followers that way, but now I want to slow down on the follows, and just focus on getting followers.

I think what's helping me this morning is:

Having a visually appealing logo and bio
Posting pins to community boards (10,000 followers +) that I belong to
Only pinning the BEST photos, especially health and food pins--creates authority
Only pinning clear photos with visually appealing graphics
Liking EVERY photo that I pin
Adding my own quirky and personal comments on the photos that I pin

It's hard work, but going to try to keep at it daily so that when I pin more of my own content, the REAL followers come to my website.

Thanks!

My daily routine in pinterest is this... post relevant and interesting pins, follow at least three related boards or users, like and repin relevant pins, and do comments.

Pinterest is a wonderful process through which loads of traffic can be obtained. Images are a big mode of attraction rather than simple writings. Pinning interesting images, creating keywords reach boards, thus branding your products can be great in Pinterest platform.

Yes, you probably are. I've found that some niches work better than others, though, so it might depend on your niche.

The biggest niches on Pinterest are food/recipes, women's fashion and jewelry, and DIY/crafts. But many other niches do very well too, such as health and fitness, small kitchen appliances, and holiday décor.

@tritrain I think you might be! Pinterest is a huge social media platform, and I feel it gets more people to your website than twitter depending on the number of followers you have because it's photos.

My update is that I have gained over 500 followers since this first post. I cannot always be active on Pinterest, but when I am the followers roll in. I get the most repins in the evening hours.

I pin new things and re-pin and like other people's pins almost every evening, and I get tons of re-pins and followers. But mid-morning is also a good time to pin, except on weekends for some reason.

In comparison with textual content, images and videos can catch the attention of people, more. People may have no time to read through long blogs and articles. No wonder, Pinterest and YouTube are popular. Thanks!

A hundred followers in four hours is certainly impressive although I think it'll help more if you repost relevant and helpful pins just like what the other member has mentioned. I totally agree that you give importance to the quality of your photos. They really do matter if you want to get more followers and keep them.

Looks like strategy is working! Is the sole focus on building your following at the moment, or are you also promoting your own content? If it's the latter, it would be interesting to see this in the form of a study over time.

@Marketaire right now I am just trying to get followers. My website is food based and other people are allowed to upload recipes to my site--so occasionally I will repin a pin from my site which generates a lot of traffic. I once repinned one of my recipes and it received over 2500 repins. I added text on the photo, and it was an original recipe idea and it went "viral" I guess

There are so many bloggers in my niche who get MOST of their traffic from Pinterest--like thousands and thousands of page views a day from Pinterest alone. I know I will reach those levels at some point.

I pin recipes from my recipe website all the time. Then I re-pin them from my business Pinterest account to my personal Pinterest account and on contributor boards so that more people see them and re-pin them. (I get 400-500 visitors per day to my website.)

Maybe you should pin your recipes more often.

Yep, the more you pin, the more your followers will re-pin, which will get some of their followers to follow you.

@kazif Hi! I have ads on my website via my ad network. When I pin images that are related to my website those pinners click on my pins and repin my images that take them to my website. I get paid per 1,000 hits to my website.

One other thing I like about Pinterest is that your pins stay alive in this social media platform. You can pin something today and still receive hits from that one pin weeks or even months later.

Good job! I haven't had too much success with Pinterest myself but I know there is a lot of potential there. When I was getting followers, I always made sure to try and post very visually appealing photos that have the potential to go viral. I would also like other photos related to my niche and oftentimes the poster of that would like my images too.
