what business and personal benefits do you see from online communities



my aim to start this thread is to scrutinize what is the benefit of online communities from personal and business perspective. i think we can get many suggesstions on how to gain maximum benefit from online communities through brainstorming.

business benefits:
  • companies gain better exposure
  • target demographics for marketing
  • brand recognition to REAL people
  • direct feedback
  • discussion with other business owners as well
personal benefits:
  • achieving high experience
  • dealing with different type of people
  • getting better suggestions from other business owners
  • consolidation
  • solutions for different problems satisfaction

    I think a benefit for both groups would be that participating in online networks gives people a chance to network with people who share similar interests, goals, aspirations etc. Online communities (just like offline communities) are a place to share knowledge and experience a sense of comradery.

    I totally agree, it not only benefits to both business and personal levels, it also gives you and opportunity to learn from other people's experience and gain knowlodge and information.

    There are definitely great personal and business benefits from online communities but you forgot to mention social. It's not always about work this is why we have the off topic forum here. You can socialize with other people and talk about things not related to business. It's healthy for us because we need to have fun and we need to socialize from time to time because it will be a great benefit in the future to have many connections.
