Facebook Groups Are Better The Fanpages?

I believe that the Facebook groups are more active then fanpages, and I am a part of a few and own a few. People probably don't realize how valueable they really are-though it's personal choice-they are both good-just me and my own opinion.

I must admit, i visit and participate in my (and others) groups instead of a fan page. It's just more convenient for me.

I have to agree with Randall, groups are much better for interaction

Groups definitely are more active, but it's much easier to reach out to more people through fan-pages which is why I prefer fan pages over groups. People are also more inclined to like a page rather than join I group which makes it easier to attract more people with pages.

You own a few? Facebook own them ultimately - I know someone this week who lost a very large group due to making a friend an admin, who then preceeded to delete her as admin - so ironic - be careful with FB assets!

Same here, fan pages are great for building a list. Groups are great to interact with people, answer questions, etc. Also good for coaching and such

I like groups for interaction, but fanpages are good to build a list from and market with.

Thank you for your post. I’m in a few groups but I don't participate of anything. I have a fan page, and it is growing with time. I will care more about Facebook groups now.

It’s also hard to make friends at Facebook, while in other networking sites you are free to follow whoever you may desire and if they want they follow you back. I stopped caring about Facebook because of their limitations.

Perhaps by being an active member in a few groups I may make more friends. Let’s see when I will have time for that. This is time consuming…

Ofcourse FB group have more value than FB fanpages. 1 Group member has value equal to at least 5 fan.

Unlike groups, fan pages are visible to unregistered people and are thus indexed. Unlike pages, groups allow to send out “bulk invite” (you can easily invite all your friends to join the group while with pages you will be forced to drop some invites manually). Groups are thus better for viral marketing, meaning that any group member can also send bulk invites to the friends of his.

Agree with what you've said, except for the first point--you can set the group visibility to 'Public'. Groups are also very useful for building communities and inculcating a certain identity and spirit, so make of that what you will.

Facebook groups are like a forum. And, people who join these groups feel like they are part of a community. On a forum or group, everyone has a voice and can be heard. But on the Facebook page, it's usually just the page owner posting and everyone commenting. This can put the 'fan' in a passive role and not everyone wants to be there. For that reason, Facebook groups are best for creating a connection with potential customers.

I have a very close friend who monetizes his FB group by charging a (very minimal) monthly fee to his group members. He has over 1300 members who happily pay for the benefits of being in that (niche) group.

sorry, but I don't agree, fanpages are better for not only interacting, but also it is very helpful if you want to build a list.
and groups were popular in the past, now people seem to be more active on the fanpages, (you have to visit the group to see a new post, while in a fanpage it automatically appears in your news feed)
