My First Facebook Ad - How Did I Do?

I posted my first facebook ad. It is for a charity website that is under development and will be launching in a few months. The ad was targeting people who were interested in the subject and was for funny pictures.

I created 6 images for the ad. One is far outshining the others. That particular picture has a 5% CTR and 17 Likes out of 187 page views. The other pictures are not doing very well. The ad is targeting a large but focused audience. It is in a popular niche, but not one that is uber-profitable.

I'm going to wait until I have at least 100 views on the other pictures before I judge how they are doing.

Would you consider this a successful campaign? It seems like it is doing well.

I'm no expert, but 5% ctr sounds phenomenal.

You are a better judge about the performance of your advertisement campaign. The output seems to be creating some awareness for sure. I am not sure how unique your content is, but certainly it'll give you dividends as it is for a cause. Facebook users have tendency to share and like content which is helpful in nature, like a sick African kid or a poor man wanting to get an operation done but has no money and a lot of other interesting things that move people. People usually share stuff that is funny and then something that is for a good cause. If I was to read a newspaper I would skip to a human interest story as opposed politics and crime which is a usual affair.

      Cheers!

Most Facebook users would see this 'share' of a human interest story as their good deed done for the day. Many people can't afford to contribute money but they will be happy to pass along the word of your page if it supports a decent cause.

Yes, 5% CTR is a great start. With the other pictures that aren't doing as well, if they are all in the same campaign, Facebook will show the successful ad more often, hence making it more successful. How are the other pictures doing in terms of impressions compared to the one that is doing well?

I agree with Mike on this. I think that is already a good start and from there you can learn more tricks.

5% ctr sounds great now start lowering your CPC so that you can leverage it.

Also you should judge only when you have reached lets say 30%-50% of your targeted campaign. But 5% from the start looks its going to do great.

5% is an AMAZING CTR to be starting with. If you can keep it that way throughout your campaign, you'll be needing to share some of your secrets haha

That's an amazing ctr. But the biggest indicator of your success is if you are getting the intended results

5% CTR sounds like a very good start. Have you examined what set it apart from the other 5 pictures?

Great job on getting 5% CTR. May I ask what ad form you're using? Right side ad? or newsfeed?

A few tips to share on Facebook:
    1. If you're aiming to get likes, you need to have to get the ads link to your fanpage. That way, there will be a "like" button at your ads.
    2. keep your budget low, like $5, and audience size big, like 1mil+ to get penny likes.
    3. make your pictures striking - like putting thick red borders.
    4. Also, if you only looking for likes, then your headline can be "LIKE [subject x]?, and your copy can be "then "LIKE" us!" This allowed me to get 1cent likes all the time.

    Hope it helps.
