Facebook Marketing Tips & Tricks

I've seen an influx of 3-5k natural fans (in the music/entertainment niche) in the past few weeks because of how Facebook is treating links + images. No one seems to know exactly how long these stories sticking in feeds are going to last for, but I suggest you take FULL advantage of the feature while it lasts.

Here are the best tips I have:
  1. If it's an image that's going to be shared add http://facebook.com/yourpage to the bottom under the comment / post. People will click directly on that and like your page.
  2. Make sure that the URL you're driving people to is in the first two or three lines of text. Anything beyond that and people will get hit with the SEE MORE before seeing the link when viewing on a mobile device.
  3. Tag all relevant pages in your posts. So we tag artists, labels and other things that our audience "likes". If they have an interest in the topic or like the page, it will show in their facebook feed. This is easier for music, but I'm sure there's opportunity for tons of niches.
  4. Square images related to your niche. We usually create custom images with just a few words of text that make a statement. I go with instagram size 640 x 640. More of your message can be viewed here.

Think of images as your headline.

This. People need to realize that optimizing for mobile extends to the copy on your FB posts too. It gets even more important when you realize that a majority of users bounce off the "see-more" when it takes too long to load.

No one really has time or energy to click the 'see more' link, unless it's for some really awesome 50% of daily deal on local service. Barring that, just keep your text shorter so your message/link doesn't get cut off.
