low CTR on landing page made for facebook?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to use facebook ads to make some affiliate money.

I've created two different ads for two different products, the ads lead to external landing pages I've created, which contain my affiliate link.

problem is, that so far I had received about 50 clicks from facebook (pretty expensive, about $0.7 CPC), but it seems like almost none of the visitors had continued to the advertiser website's by clicking my affiliate link.

it doesn't seem to be a tracking problem, as when I click on my own links, I see these clicks register at the tracking system (in a bit of delay, but they register).

usually when I create a landing page, lets say for regular PPC traffic, most of the visitors do click on my affiliate links, so I don't think I'm doing something wrong with my landing page design, it is pretty obvious for the user.
(the landing page carries the same offer described in the ad)

what do you think could be the probelm? I'm starting to think facebook traffic suffers from some mental disorder if they click on the ad but don't continue to my advertiser website through my affiliate link...

thanks

I wouldn't like to disclose it, I can describe it -

basically there is an image at the top (not a link), then a text affiliate link,
then about two paragraphs about the product,
and another affiliate link, pretty basic....

If it is not working. Why do you covet it. Any advice your given will be pushed away from your dreams behind your project.

If the page is not something you'd buy from if you didn't know you. Then no one else will.

Don't take pride in a campaign. That will drain your bank.

How are you driving traffic, are your ads sending customers somewhere they'd expect to end up?

I still believe in the product and since it goes hand in hand with the landing page, i'd rather not disclose it.

I went ahead and made the landing page more visually attractive. in my state of mind, if someone is interested in the offer (since they clicked on the ad), it shouldn't matter to them whether the landing page is very visually attractive or not, at least not up to the current situation in which I'm getting about 0% CTR from my landing page. but maybe I'm wrong. maybe a facebook user does need a strong visual stimulation in order to go ahead and click on my affiliate link. setting a visually attractive landing page consumes more time so i'm not very keen about it, especially since I don't know how would the product convert, but apparently I am having a preliminary problem, as I can't even get the customer to the real advertiser's page.

I had also thought about trying to direct linking the ad to my affiliate link, but I'm not sure if facebook would like it, nor the advertiser itself if they find it out in some sort of way.

my ad communicates a certain offer, which is being presented in a similar way on my landing page, that's why I'm having hard time figuring what could be stopping the visitors from clicking.

I noticed the links in my landing page got a "target=_top" tags, not sure if I had ever used this html tag before, but I guess it shouldn't have any effect.

As far as I understand it, Facebook HATES links that take users outside of Facebook. It'll mess up your campaigns and cause you to pay more per click.

The only real exception to this is with video posts/ads. In that case, FB is just happy to have you using their video player instead of Youtube, and they completely overlook the fact that there's an out-going link in the video's description.

I don't know how long this will continue to be the case, but try promoting video posts with affiliate links in the description, and see if that gets you anywhere.

would having an ad that keeps the user in FB, dramatically decrease my CPC?
do you have some example for such video? I'm not sure what it looks like... basically I'm trying to test all kind of products and see if they convert, having to create a special video for each product sounds a bit extreme, isn't it? I don't have any experience in creating videos (don't mind studying it if it's worth it), maybe it's not such a big deal as it sounds.

the only option to keep the user in FB is to open a fan page I suppose, but it seems out of place when my purpose is to have the user clicking on my affiliate link, isn't it? I mean what kind of fan page should I create? It's just a temporary single offer, it's not like I am the one who is owning and running the whole brand... it also puts another barrier between the user and the affiliate link, doesn't it? not sure if it is along with FB's guidelines to make a post with an affiliate link or anything similar... I'll be happy to receive some examples if there is a way to make such thing work.

Hi, I was wondering if you have figured out what was wrong? This happens to me on Facebook at times, although my current LP CTR is about 25%. I get very bizarre, streaky results with Facebook, would be helpful if anyone has any insights.
