Cost per like increased for US

We have started our second Ad campaign. This one is USA/Canada only. Our first 'like' campaign last month was successful for getting likes by targeting 3rd world countries (2,500 likes at 0.02 cost per like).

Finding that americans really are not interested in clicking 'like' compared to their international counterparts. Click thru rate remains same about .50 %. Quickly I am getting sense that to get the amount of likes and engagement for US we will need to run giveaway/contest that will be fangated. Thoughts?

Also, we are running seperate campaign directly to our website and it looks like Facebook won't even show that ad unless CPC is high.

Definitely giving away something of value for free will increase your conversions and loyalty.

Ad costs are 10+ times higher in the US generally. You did well to do a campaign targeted worldwide first to build fans! The question to begin with is why do you want US likes only? Why work so hard to get fans that may never prove to be worthwhile? Many times the answer to this is based on theory rather than data. I get fans globally only because my data shows US fans are just as likely to never buy anything from me as global fans are given the 10:1 ratio. Often if you want to work in the US only, the fan page can be a good conversion tool but rarely acts as a lead generation source. The best practices for social media marketing prove almost completely wrong when you actually analyze the data. If you want to get the best results, try campaigns across all advertising platforms with the same budget and compare which give you the best return.

Thank you to the 400+ warriors that chose to buy my Facebook WSO granting lifetime access to my Udemy course!

Take this advice. I pretty much followed banworks threads 3 months ago and now have 87,000+ fans (from zero). I do focus on USA fans to a large extent, but I also have tens of thousands of European, Asian, South American and Middle Eastern fans.

Fans from all over the world engage like crazy, are appreciative of great content, love my page and they do buy/click ads. It's been well worth the effort and minimal expense. ROI is excellent now and my page has high engagement.

Read all of banwork's threads - he offers excellent info for free. I just did what he suggested and it works for fan acquisition. I also did a consult with JasonDinner (a fellow warrior) who really knows this stuff - especially monetizing Facebook (I get nothing from Jason - just letting you know who has really helped me with FB).

Would I make more if all my fans were from the USA? Maybe, but I would certainly be leaving a ton of money on the table and I wouldn't have nearly the number of comments/shares and likes on my page.

First I want to personally thank you. Your youtube video was awesome. You can't find free information like that anywhere.

As to why we are focusing on US. We sell physical products that are priced middle of road. Alot of less affluent international countries were liking us, liking our pics and also messaging me. But when price of product were discussed they couldn't afford it. So we are betting that US consumers have higher purchasing power. $30 might mean nothing to someone in US but in Nepal that could be weeks pay.

Instead of a contest (which I've tried) offer a sure thing - a super high quality freebie that's accessible behind a fangate.

I've done the freebie and contest. Had ziltch response on the contest but am getting US/Canadian likes for $.10 using a high-quality freebie and have been for 2 months with the same 2 freebies. I change up the ad images every few weeks once conversion dips.

I've read how people are using contests successfully so I tried it (paid $60 for software which was a waste). After it failed I speculate that people are less inclined to enter something for a very small chance of winning than simply liking a page getting something valuable for free (a sure thing).

That said, my prize was worth $50. I'm sure if I offered a $1,000 prize I'd get more response, but for $1,000 I can get thousands of likes so it's not worth it.

as I was reading this I thought this wouldn't work for us because it would be too expensive to give away free physical products to everyone clicking like but then I realized you might be onto something. I could put some work in to building valuable guide specific to our industry as the giveaway. Thanks

Americans are lazy so you have to do things bit different to target them (us) .

I ask a question in my headline that goes directly to their brain and then simple tell them to like. Once they've like the page, you can run separate ads to sell them on different things.
