Can you use social media marketing to sell products directly?

Have any of you guys used social media marketing to directly sell products... successfully?

Personally, I am only using social media for brand management/user engagement.

I like to get more likes on my facebook page, and followers on twitter, because I can then send them to my blog... or whatever, but I've never tried direct marketing through social media.

What say you?

I think it always seems to come off a bit spammy and probably won't provide the best experience for your fans / followers.

I would say it is better to keep them loyal.

Definitely, I've had experienced with it first-hand, I do buy caps, shirts and apparels on facebook.

You can start selling your products to your friends. Or you can create a page for your services/products. Or you can create another page(make sure it is interesting to get more likes) that can get the attention of your target audience, upload images and videos, and then on the description you can advertise your product or you can put the link to your product page.

Provide heaps of content.. valuable content and only promote about 20% of the time. You have to build a relationship with followers, just like when you email market. ALOT of people just spam links all the time and it's really annoying.

Also I suggest that you don't direct link to affiliate offers. Esp clickbank. Use it to build a list. That's the best way to go about it.

I have seen it done before, but do not know how successful it is. I am sure that niche specific products will do well. I wouldn't bombard followers, but doing it once every so often might be worth a try.

  • I have bought from sellers on Facebook, but only from people I really know and those who live in the same city as I do. Here in the Philippines, a lot of people sell on Facebook but they cater to a very limited market.

well yes! if only if your accounts have a good number of followers only then you will easily make bucks by selling tweet to tweeter advertising networks or find products that closely related to your keywords and sell them yourself. Here is the link of Click2sell, where you can find many great products to sell on your twitter account with no fee upfront at all.
