Question on FB marketing: Page vs Profile?

I have a branded blog. I want to use FB to promote it. So far I have set-up,

"Mguy Lastname" which is set-up as a personal profile

I also have

"Mguys Page" listed as a community and set-up as a page.

But I am confused.

I can't seem to add friends in the page? I am adding friends in the profile but not in the page. With the page I can only join groups or pay for likes. I want people to see my webpage when they friend me then like my content!!

I am in a situation where my personal profile has friends but I need my page to get the likes and people to "like" it.

What am I missing here?

    Hi friend,
It is not possible to add friends on business page.
You can add people on profile and then may request those people to like your page.
You can increase likes of your page but not friends.
You can share anything on page and share it with your profile then every friends (Also who doesn't like your page) would see you post.

  • A Facebook profile (ideally) should only be used by persons, which is why you can add friends to it. Pages are for businesses, organizations, brands and personalities, that's where you get likes or followers.

"I want people to see my webpage when they friend me then like my content!!"

I'm a little confused by what you want to happen here. Do you want them to like your content on your FB page/profile or do you want them to like your content on the actual page of your website? Because you can link your website to both your profile and page (which i think is better) but it's not an assurance that they would automatically visit your website or that your website would . Your posts have to be compelling enough that they would want to take that extra step of clicking on your link to read your content.

If you are serious to build your brand awareness and good relationship to customers, make sure to use the "page" instead of the "profile".

The profile is designed for connecting friends which you know personally and your friends know you, not for business purpose.

How exactly do I put my URL on the personal profile page?

I can put it in the Page, no problem by putting it in the description right below my picture.

      But how about personal profile?

Does this mean my URL will only be clicked when I publish something on the timeline on my personal profile?

Facebook profiles are designed so you could connect to friends or to people you know. But, as himanuzo said, using Facebook profiles for business purposes is not a good idea. Yes, if you add lots of friends, your posts will appear in their news feeds and you will be able to comment on their uploads. However, it can work out only if you are a freelancer, consultant, artist, or some sort of a well-known expert. If that is the case, it's OK.

But in all other cases, endless chains of promotional posts is not what your friends want to get from you, so you are most likely to be unfriended by the majority of your following.

Fan pages can't accept "friends" in the way personal profiles can. On the other hand, if people like your page and the way you run your Facebook community, they will take active part in the live of your fan page, 'like' and share your posts, share a word about your brand, etc.

So, if you have to choose between these 2 options, a Facebook page would be a better way to go.

Hope you find this info useful.

However... if you start a small business or home business, you can use the profile at the beginning time. But don't forget - there is limit 5,000 friends per profile. Remember, friendship and good relationship is powerful for any business.

Once your business get bigger and reach 5,000 friends on your profile, you need to create a FB page and suggest your friends to like the page. And ask your friends to spread their friends (this is known as "friends of friends" on FB) to like your page. Your page can increased to more 5,000 likes.

All are up to you! You decide it.

A page is best it tells all your interest and shares a lot more than a profile would.

There is no option to add friends on your business page. You can add friends in your profile and invite them to like your page. Also focus on likes and postings on your page. If your page postings are attractive then users automatically likes your post and page too.
