Paying for the first ~1000 likes on new pages ?

Hey all

So I have a few Fbook pages which I set up a while ago however left by the wayside at the time, same with 2x sites which I set up to get likes views, ad revenue, sell a few associate trinkets a.k.a shirts and such.

IRL I work as an enterprise salesman/BDM for a decent size company and am also responsible for the SEO and conversion strategy of their website/pages however it is very niche compared to above.

My Question,

Is Paying for the first ~1000 likes on fbook new pages followed by a promotional campaign on Fbook a decent strategy ?

Edit: I am Aware content is King, I have about 150 posts backlog of content, basically I set everything up last year and then was interrupted by my private life.

    I think so, because if people see that you have a lot of likes already they are more likely to join especially if you have very high quality and engaging content.

    I would say don't do that...you get what you pay for!!if you are buying for likes doesn't mean you will be able to sell anything to those likes it is an artificial # and doesn't mean more people will like you anyway. Give something of value and get "real" likes.

      Go for it. No one is gonna think a page with 3 likes is worth their time. People are lemmings. If they see other people jumping off the cliff (liking your page) they will do the same.

      Not one of those real likes are gonna stop to notice if your other likes are "real."

      It's the nature of all politics. Buy some ringers/invite some "filler people" to a rally, to show up to meetings, plant people in the crowd...and this will create a temporary false sense of societal approval/popularity just long enough to get real people on board.

      The only likes I would pay for are the first 50 so that you can get a custom Facebook username and access to Facebook insights/analytics. Paying for any fans above that is a waste because paid fans are typically fake profiles that don't engage with your page. Worse than that, if you decided to pay for Facebook ads, the excess number of fake fans on your page that don't engage with you will skew your edgerank and have an adverse effect on your advertising results.

    Thanks, Yeah I know I will get nothing for those likes. they are just to add legitimacy to the page, nobody is gonna like a page with 200 Likes.

      When was the last time you got on a fan page , liked the posts it made, loved what it was providing and then decided .. oh darn they dont have enough other people liking them so Im not going to? .... ANSWER: Never.

      When was the last time you got on a fan page, thought it was stupid and full of spam, figured it was a waste of time, but saw that 10,000 people have likes it so you decided .. oh wow even though this is terrible Im going to like it anyway? .... ANSWER: Never.

      It won't hurt to get some initial Likes on the page, but never think those people are real fans. Those likes are just there to make your page look popular enough to others on Facebook. That should be enough to get your page liked by real fans.

    I've never paid for Likes to get a Page traction before starting an Ads campaign on Facebook and I don't think it's ever hurt me. I'd stay away from buying Likes (besides Facebook Ads) just so you don't upset Facebook.

    It's like anything else designed to fool the public: it has diminishing returns. A lot of people I know don't trust Amazon reviews any longer because they can be bought so easily. I imagine that FB likes will be just the same.

    Anyway, you also need engagement on your page to draw people in.

    I have paid for 2000 followers on my FB page, hoping stuff would start rolling by itself, but it didnt, down to 1980 or so followers now, i get likes and stuff on pics i post, and some shares, but no new followers :/

    Super BAD idea. Facebook will show your posts to around 20% (fairly randomly) of your fans unless you promote the post. If you have 1000 fake purchased likes and say 250 real likes that means the odds are great that most of those 20% who see your posts will be in the fake likes (Facebook doesnt know there fake) meaning that buying fake likes will only lower your engagement with real people, basically doing the exact opposite of what you hope to accomplish.

    Hi,
    Most people have mixed feelings about Facebook Page Ads. With this selection, you're advertising your Page and trying to grow your Likes. You can write your own ad copy, but the title of the ad is still unchangeable as the title of your Facebook Page. If your Page name is too long, the ad will only show the first 25 characters of your Page name. So I think paying for first 1000 likes is not a wise decision. You may promote yourself first then try with money.

    Paying for likes isn't a bad thing. It's when you pay for shit likes just to bump your numbers that its bad.

    By all means by 1000 highly targeted fans using Facebook Ads or Relevant page shoutouts but don't go buy bulk fake likes and think its a good move cause it's not.

    It's actually the most destructive thing you could do to a new page. Here's the scenario.. In a matter of hours you've gone from 0 to hero but no ones liking your content, no ones commenting and for the most part no ones interested. This is just sending clear signals to FB telling them your page isnt very popular and there goes your edgerank creating a whole lot of work for you to convince them otherwise.

    Then the bomb hits. People start unliking and hiding your content which basically confirms for FB that your page is crap and the amount of work you're going to need to dig yourself out of that whole is 10 times what it would've taken to build your page naturally.

    With a decent FB ad campaign in many niches you can get likes with FB ads for cheaper than buying fake likes. Fake likes are a waste and a risk. It's not worth it. FB ads, on the other hand, work great for getting likes fast (and a lot of them if you have the budget).

    Target your precise niche so you'll have engaged fans right from the start. Then experiment with what works engagement-wise with your fans. Read about what's working for other pages. It doesn't take long to find what your fans like.

    My approach is to set up a fangate offering an ebook. After people like the gate it forwards to an optin form on squeeze page to get access. This way I get likes and subscribers in one go. Optin rates from a fangate for me are 50 to 60%.

    This is what I do and it works every time.

    1. Build a page and buy 5000 likes from fiver.

    2. Create fb advert for new page

    3. Build list from advert with my fb auto responder

    4. Send every new post to my fb auto responder list

    Each message I send goes direct to my lists fb notification box which leads to my fb page. If the content is good (hint I use video) then you will gen engagement and sales.

    Be careful for "paying for likes" all that does is make the #'s look good but really can you sell anything if that is what you are trying to do to all those likes?

    I think it’s just legit for you to do that and people in the social media won’t think of it as bribery. That’s the reason why we love engaging ourselves in the social media platforms because we love to have fun and join the craze.

    If you think it’s going to do you good then do it. I would suggest that you add more activities for your followers to participate in.

    "Likes" will not buy anything from you and I think its worse when a page has several thousand likes but zero engagement with your content. I think any person who is genuinely interested in what you are offering can look at your FB page and tell there isn't a lot of activity going on.

    Buying likes should not form part of your business strategy, you can never buy customers to buy from you!
