How to start with Facebook for Social Media Optimization

I am new to social media optimization and just created the page on facebook for my site..
and add the like button on my page. but the question is this how would this help my site to gain traffic.

and how can i derive more facebook user to like my site and fb page???

please help

    Social media pages all link back to your website. The act of "liking" (Facebook), "+1'ing" (Google +) or "Following" (Twitter) act as a sort of "vote of confidence" for your social media page, which then translates to your main website (mind you this is in REAL lamens' terms)

    A great way to get "likes" is to attach social media bookmarking plugins on your website and place them on your post pages, picture gallerys, etc. If you write good, quality content, people will want to share it and/or like it. I also recommend sharing your newer posts or articles on your social media pages.

    People spend more time on social media websites hence having a business page on facebook can drive traffic to your website provided you follow these points.

    1) Post useful and interesting information on your website and post the link on your business page.
    2) Do advt campaign targeting potential customer
    3) Design very good facebook business page (read the tips on various internet sites) to attract the users
    4) You should have call to action on your FB business page
    5) Run a contest
    6) Link your personal profile page to your fb business page
    7) Implement fb like button on your website
    8) Communicate with other business pages (in similar domain) using your business page.

    You should start by posting really interesting stuff
    One of the best ways is to start building email list, if you content is really interesting people will opt in, or you can also offer some ebook related to your niche to gather emails,
    Then you can send regular newsletter and promote your facebook page and other social circles there

    Alternatively i also got some luck in getting some quick hundreds of likes to my FB page by using iframe on my FB page,
    I offered ebook, they would have to click like to download ebook
